you progress through Resident Evil 1 you will find 2 books. On Easy mode it is quite simple as you will dodge fairly easily, yet there is no point to killing him on easy as he will not drop items. On Hard mode using only high powered weapons like Freeze Rounds for your Grenade Launcher or the Colt Python will help a lot. In general encounters try to dodge well and only shoot once per opportunity. In the fight outside the Bell Tower you would do well to keep a medium distance between you.

In order to find the Battery in Resident Evil 3 you must first locate the statue of the Mayor. In his hands will be a Book. Take the book from the statue and bring it to the place outside of the diner where water is gushing and electricity is flying. Place the Book in the appropriate slot and remove the Compass that is next to that slot. Carry the Compass back to the statue and place it in his hands. The statue will rotate granting you access to the Battery.
