In another of a long line of Design Decisions I Regret, xv tries to do all sorts of clever things with regard to the image window's position on screen. For example, if you issue the Max Size command, xv will position the window so that the window's contents exactly fill the screen (and the titlebar, frame, etc. are off the edges). Prior to GLUT 3.7, you can generate a full-screen window using a call to glutFullScreen(void). With GLUT 3.7 and later, a more flexible interface was added. With glutGameModeString(), an application can specify a desired full-screen width and height, as well as the pixel depth and refresh rate. Prior to January 4, 2004, landscape-oriented document images were not turned so as to be viewed in a portrait-oriented mode. This primarily affected travel invoice vouchers (entry codes 50 and 57) and some forms of supporting documentation. The alternatives available for those images are to view them as they appear on your monitor, or print the image and turn it manually. Landscape-oriented document images scanned after January 5, 2004, have all been turned so they have a portrait orientation.

Believe it or not, yes! I did not believe it until I tried it. You need to use a CCD barcode scanner, not a laser scanner. You also have to play with the font size and get a size that is big enough. The reason a CCD scanner will work and a laser scanner will not is as follows. A CCD scanner has a video camera that takes a picture of the entire barcode. A laser scanner scans a beam of laser light across the barcode and picks up light reflected by the white areas of the barcode.

The pixel size of the image is selectable - 40microm (Super) or 64microm (High). The bit depth is 14 bits grayscale, and the spatial resolution is 12.5 lp/mm. The DIGORA® for Windows software supports 8 to 16-bit grayscale and 24-bit True Colour images. What does that mean? Basically, high quality images with an exceptionally wide dynamic range. The result is that even small details like 0.06 mm root canal files are visible.

While we make every attempt to make sure it is, colours inevitably vary from monitor to monitor so the print could well be slightly different in colour. The exact dimensions and boundaries of "your images" will also vary according to which size and and finish option you choose (see "Sizes and Options" FAQs below for advice).
