The ink used in the Tombow ABT pens is a water based dye stuff ink. Only this ink type will allow you to do beautiful blending effects!

The first two digits note the base colour whilst the last digit specifies the tone. For example numbers 061, 062 & 068 all have the same base colour (06) but the last digit denotes how light or dark it is. The higher the number the darker it is. In this case 061 is the lightest colour and 068 is the darker colour.

Tombow ABT pen ink is very similar to that in your ink pads, so how you normally clean your stamps is the way we recommend you use for ABT ink removal. However if you do have some colour that just won't budge, a bit of spray & wipe with a scrub does wonders!

I use ovencleaner. Chas Klensch, Underground Press, NYC I understand that oven cleaner is basicly lye, which is what the old timers used. I read somewhere not to use lye for cleaning (I think they were trying to sell some sort of chemical instead) so I ran out and tried it. It works so well on metal type that the stuff looks new. The problem is it cleans so effectively, the type may start to corrode unless you put some oil on it to preserve it. Lye is readily available at grocery stores.
