With a high quality pool table, other woods provide the structure and strength. It is important however, to know what material (wood) is under the veneer.

If you have air vents in your floor, simply pull out one of the registers and look at the flooring. You should have a floor on top of a subfloor. If the floor on top is one solid piece almost an inch thick, then you have solid hardwood. If, however, the top floor looks like thin layers pressed together or just a thin board by itself, then you have either a laminate or engineered floor. If your air vents are located in the ceiling, you may not be able to tell.

Solid 3/4" Hardwood flooring cannot be installed below grade (below the soil line) or over concrete. When a solid product encounters moisture it reacts very negatively. To accommodate the standard 57 inch cue length, we recommend a 5 foot clearance around the playfield of the table. However, this is negotiable with smaller cues and open walls.
