Ultra-DMA, also knows as UDMA, Ultra ATA, or Fast ATA-2 , is a further enhancement of the EIDE disk-drive interface, available on the newer G3 Macs and on some PCs (Intel 440TX, LX, BX, and later chipsets; VIA/AMD VPX, VP2/97, AMD-640 chipsets; Promise Ultra33 (FastTrack) controller. Win95 and WinNT require an upgrade to exploit UDMA; Win98 supports it fully). UDMA drives tend to be a lot cheaper that SCSI-3 drives, and are often capable of stutter-free capture and playback of DV data.

In Windows 98 & ME: From the Start menu, go to "Settings>Control Panel" and double-click the "System" icon. From there, click on the "Device Manager" tab. Double-click on "CD-ROM" then double-click on your Plextor CD-RW drive. Select the "Settings" tab. Click the check-box to enable DMA. If the check-box does not appear, contact your motherboard manufacturer and verify that your motherboard IDE controller supports DMA (Direct Memory Access) Mode 2.

I understand Solaris 7 recognizes UDMA drives in native mode. They are not supported in Solaris 2.6 or older, although they are recognized in its compatibility mode as regular ATAPI drives.

DMA needs to be turned off with the Apple HS SCSI card or the RamFAST revision C card. It does not need to be turned off with the RamFAST revision D card (differentiated by being half sized). Current RamFAST cards are revision D as are late model CV Tech cards. It is the RamFAST revision D that is designed to DMA into any RAM card, even 8MB models. It was made around the time of the CV RAM 8MB model that turned into the RAM GS Plus, but functions just as well with the Sirius card.

Spectacle lenses, depending on the type of material will absorb varying amounts of ultraviolet light. In order of best absorbing lens the materials are polycarbonate, plastic and finally glass lenses. Different standards define the amount of absorption required, and/or the definition of the categories for spectacle lenses. It depends what you mean by "behind". Somewhere in your initialization sequence you would call dc1394_video_set_transmission(). This causes the camera to start spewing out images until you tell it to stop with the same function. The capture functions can't start or stop the camera. The expected behaviour is for the first frame to be current and the next frame to be one frame time later, no matter when you actually call the capture function.

This is the original DMA that is available on all models of GB. It is used to do a fast copy of sprite attribute data to Object (sprite) Attribute Memory (OAM) located at $fe00-$fe9f. You shouldn't bother. Not only is the DMA controller limited to 64K segments, but only on the slowest PC's (we're talking 8086 here) is it faster than doing a REP MOVSW. Still, DMA memory transfers take no CPU time at all, but you still shouldn't use them because they're just too slow on modern PC's. If you really want to do it anyway, just to see if it works, here's a small article from 1989 by Patrick & David O'Riva that can help you.
