There are 7 lessons and we recommend one lesson per week but you are at liberty to study them much more frequently if you prefer.

There is no fixed period of time for instruction. Students can stay in the program for however long it is necessary for them to complete their learning goals.

Students generally begin with the Core Courses. Each core course treats a different broad aspect of human experience, but each is also designed to train students in a particular intellectual/academic skill. For example, the "Social Culture" core requirement is fulfilled either by "The American Experience" or "The City," yet in this Core students are also trained in research skills.

For all half or .05 credit courses, the course cost covers a period of six months from the date the enrollment is processed. For any full or 1.0 credit courses, students are given a full year to complete. Extensions are available to students for an additional cost of $50 per month/per course.

Student subscriptions to MathXL for Basic Mathematics through Pre-Calculus courses are good for 12 months. For Calculus, Statistics and other courses that make go through two or more semesters, student subscriptions to MathXL are good for 24 months.

Yes! As far as possible, we try to allow students to add, remove or change classes. However, since teachers must be found, etc., we can only make adjustments from one week after the request. So, if on Tuesday you requested to add extra classes, they could start from the next Tuesday. (In a few cases, if the class can be added without changing the schedule at all, we can waive this rule, but in general one week is required.)

The latest rules say that once you have sat an ecdl exam you have three years to complete all of them. You should check this once you have done your first exam in case the rule changes. The whole ecdl course can be completed in approximately 30 to 50 hours of study depending upon how fast you go. So if you studied just one hour each week you can complete all of the parts in less than one year.

We're the only school in the Tri-State Area that certifies through both of these organizations rather than just one. Our sailing, cruising and navigation courses all lead to the appropriate level of certification through ASA or US Sailing. These are important credentials: they prove that the school you're attending has met nationally (and internationally) recognized minimum standards, and that you'll have proof of the same upon successful completion of the course.
