Students applying for admission in US Universities are from a large number of institutions not only from USA but also from countries all over the world. It is impossible for the admission authorities in US Universities to have reliable and up-to-date information on the relative merits of the certificates/degrees/marks/grades awarded by these diverse universities.

The letters are acronyms for each exam. Each exam has a different purpose, and whether you need to take one or more depends on your goals. You should check the requirements for your specific case.

In India, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL are held only in the Computer-Adaptive Test (CAT) format, and not in the paper-based format. The testing centers are located in 9 cities in India - Allahabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram. SAT continues to be held in the conventional paper-based format on 6 specific days in a year throughout the world.

The paper-based GRE used to have two sections each on Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability and Analytical Ability, with a maximum score of 800 for each and a total score of 2400.

English proficiency is required via TOEFL or SAT. GRE is not a requirement for engineering students but students applying for MBA need GMAT. Please note that the SAT is not required for undergraduate applicants although it is helpful if you are applying for an undergraduate scholarship.

Initially, we advise an international applicant to attach photocopies of his/her score reports with the application, but official reports issued by ETS will be required before full processing of that application will take place. The TOEFL is a mandatory university requirement and will not be waived unless the student has graduated from a US university or any other University where English is the official language of the country. We do not set any absolute cut-off point for these tests. However, you might want to note that the median for our most recent intake was 695 for GMAT, 1343 for GRE (verbal & quantitative), 620 for TOEFL and 7.0 for IELTS.

These booklets provide thorough information on the exams, i.e. where, when, how to register, scoring, fees, etc., and include sample tests as well. The TOEFL, GRE General and GMAT tests are computerized, and can be taken at the Budapest computer-based test center. For foreign applications, we require a TOEFL score of 600. While your GRE score is important, we have no specific cut-off for GRE scores, and consider the GRE score to be just one part of your overall application. All applicants must submit a GRE score to be considered for fellowships or graduate teaching assistantships.

The GRE (for the MICT/M.Sc.) and the GMAT (for the MBA) will not be waived under any circumstances. The SAT I, ACT or APs for the Bachelor programs can be waived if you have the German Abitur with a GPA of at least 2.0 or an IB Diploma taught in English with a total score of 36 or better.

No. We believe that maturity and motivation are more accurate indicators of an adult learner?s potential for success than scores on standardized tests. To qualify for graduate admission a student is not required to complete an entrance exam. Full acceptance into the School of Business and Technology requires receipt of an official transcript from the baccalaureate granting institution with a minimum grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.5. Students whose G.P.A. is above 2.0 but below 2.

Test dates vary by location and can be found on the Educational Testing Service website. This site is a great resource for anyone planning to attend Graduate School. If you are getting close to the application deadline, you may fax, phone or e-mail your scores as soon as you get the results, though you must also arrange to have the testing organization send the official results as soon as possible.

If the rest of your application is complete, you should submit it even if you have not taken the appropriate tests. But you must indicate on your application when you plan to take them. Although a final decision on your application cannot be made in the absence of your test scores, we can begin the application process. You may phone, fax or e-mail your scores as soon as you know your results, but the testing organization must send the official results as soon as possible.

No. Any test results older than two years can unfortunately not be accepted. Please make arrangements to re-take these tests.

These tests do help but are not mandatory as far as the admission into a university or college is concerned. However, the students, whose academic records are not good, they may take these tests to support their claim for admission.

Indian Universities do not insist for the above scores. However, since the academic programmes are taught in English, proficiency in English is a must. You should have studied for qualifying examination in English or English should have been one of the subjects.
