Youth are a vital part of the congregation. We affirm this inclusion of our youth and our responsibility to them at each child's baptism by our congregational response, pledging: "With God's help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ, that this child, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal" (Book of Worship, Baptismal Covenant, Congregational Pledge, page 11).

We each have our own story of how God called us individually to youth ministry before we ever even met, but we also know that God has uniquely prepared and called us as a couple. Our life’s passion is to work with youth for many reasons. One is how deeply each of us was impacted during our teenage years by our leaders. We have also experienced and seen how formative the teen years are; and lastly, God has filled our hearts with an unexplainable, supernatural love for youth.

While suburban or "neighborhood" congregations tend to consist of families primarily from one community or set of schools, most, although not necessarily all, down town churches tend to consist of families and students from a large diversity of schools and neighborhoods. Centenary UMC students come from many different schools. For instance, we have high school students who go to Mt. Tabor, Reynolds as well as Forsyth Country Day School -- almost in equal proportion membership-wise.

Since everyone in the parish should be "doing youth ministry" (i.e. reaching out to young people in the community), it would be impossible to pay everyone. However, those who coordinate the formal youth ministry efforts of the parish usually receive a professional salary. A standardized salary scale for full-time and part-time coordinators of youth ministry is available through the Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry.

The Network does not currently provide a job referral service. We suggest you contact your denominational headquarters, a Christian college or seminar, or use any of a number of online (some are free) job referral listings, such as YouthSpecialties.com or the Willow Creek Association.

Serving Teens in the Community ??" The Bridge and Recreation Center will give hope to the 50,000 plus teens in our community through concerts, extreme sports, worship, Bible study, after-school activities, small groups and leadership training. Serving Families ??" This complex will also serve the multitude families in our community. They will participate in concerts, parent support, sports events, and many other family-building activities.

There are many aspects of printing apart from foil that over the years staff at The Quill Press have actively been involved with, including Pad printing, T-shirt printing, Balloon and Silk screen printing. We will be able to show you where to find these machines and teach you how to use them. With regards to foil printing, we have a vast amount of experience in it's various aspects.

We know, we know…getting ready for NCYC can seem overwhelming and complicated. Fear not, help can we found right here! NCYC is open to high school age young people and their chaperones. Most participants are Catholic. Many youth participants are leaders in their local parishes, schools and/or diocese, though many are just beginning to connect to their faith. Some attendees may have participated in previous national or international events such as the World Youth Day.

Youth Ministry may or may not need its own fund. If money is donated specifically for Youth Ministry, and all of it won't be spent in the current fiscal year, then having a separate fund is a good way to keep track of the balance from year to year. On the other hand, if the finance committee decides how much should be spent in the coming year, regardless of what might not have been spent last year, then you can use the budgeting feature.

The Archdiocese of Newark currently has approximately 240 parishes with 1.4 million Catholics. More than half of the parishes report to be involved in some ministry with their youth. Many of those 120 parishes employ a full or part-time youth minister. Others serve their youth work with a priest and a team of parents and young adult parishioners. Training through the Youth Ministry office is available for all those who are interested. Please see the Current Programs link for more information.

Located in Washington, D.C., and led by an energetic and creative national staff, the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry is a membership organization working on behalf of youth and diocesan youth ministry leadership across the country and on U.S. military bases in Europe. Members include ninety-four percent of all Catholic dioceses, the National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts and Camp Fire, and fifty youth-serving organizations.

We recognise that in terms of the development of young people, many different faith-based organisations and religions are doing amazing work around the world. We also recognise the many NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and charities doing similar work with young people. We do interact with these organisations, sharing information and sometimes resources. In particular, we look to these organisations for assistance in understanding youth culture.

Our youth have a ministry to serve our congregations also. Some young people may be called to travel to other congregations to minister as well, as acolyte or lector or simply as a 'youth presence' in congregations without young people of their own yet.

To be honest, we have found the best way to learn practicalities of youth ministry is by doing it! The aspects of ministry which have to be taught in a classroom tend to be the more foundational elements such as the Bible, Theology, Characteristics of Leadership etc. Also we have found that the most important aspect of a course is that it is inspiring and missiologically focused. If you leave a lecture inspired to apply what you've learned, it will impact your day to day ministry.

Some of the gangs that have emerged in the past decade are noticeably different from those that emerged before the mid-1980s (Howell, Egley, and Gleason, 2002; Howell, Moore, and Egley, 2002). These gangs are commonly described as having a "hybrid gang culture," meaning they do not follow the same rules or methods of operation, making documentation and categorization difficult (Starbuck et al., 2001).

Yes. It is the same as the churches. "To Know Christ, To Grow in Christ, To Share Christ and His Love" we use this because we are one part of the larger whole. This is where we are headed as a church therefore this is where we are headed as a student ministry.

We call ministry to teens "youth ministry" and not "CYO" because the current understanding of youth ministry is far more comprehensive than the older model of CYO. The CYO of the 1950ís and 1960ís operated in the context of a Catholic culture--especially Catholic family life, which formed teens into the Catholic community. CYO, therefore, served as a supplement to that Catholic culture, providing primarily social and sporting outlets for Catholic teens.

Training is available for youth ministers or parishioners who are called to do youth ministry in their community. Parishes can send these people to a Basic Training in Youth Ministry series sponsored by the Archdiocesan Youth Ministry office. In August of 1997, the United State Conference of Catholic Bishops issued a formal statement about youth ministry in the U.S.

NNYM's president, Paul Fleischmann, serves as Chair of the WEA Youth Commission. Daryl Nuss, NNYM's International Coordinator, also serves on the Commission. Together they have provided the training components of Youth Ministry Consultations in Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Total Ministry is all the baptized members ministering together. It prepares members of a congregation toserve as a team in the ministerial leadership roles traditionally filled by a seminary-trained priest. Total Ministry may also be called "mutual ministry," or "collaborative ministry." Congregations that cannot find or afford a seminary-trained priest may then have the full range of traditional ministries ? regular Eucharist, original sermons, and personal pastoral care.
