The Foundation Center maintains a database of grantmaking organizations in the United States. The Chronicle of Philanthropy also lists grants in each of its issues. Regional associations of grantmakers often provide a listing of grants available within specific regions or states. Use a web search engine to find the numerous additional websites that may be useful in locating funders.

We recommend contacting a knowledgeable advocate or attorney to discuss issues related to funding your child’s program. We will be happy to provide you with referrals. Typically, an advocate will accompany you to your IEP, and will provide input that may help to secure funding from your school district.

There are many different funding sources out there, which is why research can become very time consuming, but is critical in the grant writing process. Some funding sources include, but are not limited to: Private Foundations are established for a variety of reasons, but all have the same goal of funding a special interest for the common good of local communities.

What is diabetes? Most of the food we eat is turned into glucose, or sugar, for our bodies to use for energy. The pancreas, an organ that lies near the stomach, makes a hormone called insulin to help glucose get into the cells of our bodies.
