The DL is the full-text repository of papers from publications that have been published, co-published, or co-marketed by ACM and other publishers. The Guide is a collection of bibliographic citations and abstracts of works published by ACM and other publishers. Citations for all ACM published works are included in the Guide as a small subset of the total bibliographic space.

The three reference citation formats ACM offers (BibTeX, Endnote, and ACM Reference Format) all require cut-and-paste operations. We do not have any direct export functions, and there is no facility for launching Endnote directly from the ACM DL. We are hoping to add this in the future, but in the meantime, cut and paste the citation into a text file, save the file, and then import to Endnote, using the "Endnote Import" filter as the import option.

Some databases allow you to export your selected citations directly into your RefWorks account. Otherwise, you can save your search results as text file on any of your local drives. Then in RefWorks, select Import under the References menu; then select University of Massachusetts as the import filter along with the database you searched, and import the file.

Endnote is a program that allows the user to easily create bibliographies for papers and projects while researching inside the Online Catalog or various online databases. Endnote may be used to directly search the Online Catalog and certain databases or information downloaded from databases can be imported into Endnote for use as well. EndNote library is a collection of references, each containing the information required to create a bibliography. The references may also include supplemental information such as keywords, abstracts, notes, and URLs. Rather than creating a new library for each project, we recommend that you create one larger library.

This is a Macintosh problem caused by your browser not using a File Type (which should be TEXT - must be upper case), and EndNote getting confused because it can't see the File Type. Open the saved file in either SimpleText (OS 9); or TextEdit (OS X, in Applications) and then save the file again. The file should now have TEXT as file type and EndNote can import it. To import records from EndNote, save your Endnote libraries or entire database as text files in RIS format: In EndNote, go to the the Edit menu and select Output Styles and Open Style Manger. Click in the RefMan (RIS) Export checkbox. Close the Style Manager, go back to Edit, Output Styles, and select RefMan (RIS) Export from the pulldown menu. Highlight the references you want to export. Under the Reference menu select Show Selected (or Show All if you wish to export the entire database).

Go to Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com/) and click on the Scholar Preferences link to the right of the search box. Scroll down to the bottom of the Preferences page to Bibliography Manager and select the radio button and drop down menu to Show links to import citations into EndNote.
