Applications are open to any high school senior in the state of Kentucky. Students must first apply for admission to the University of Louisville and then apply specifically to the McConnell Scholars program. All application forms are available on-line at www.louisville.edu. The application process is rigorous and demands an outstanding academic record in high school, strong ACT scores, and demonstrated leadership ability.

U. S. Senator Mitch McConnell is a 1964 graduate of the University of Louisville. In the early 1990’s, Senator McConnell came to the University in hopes of giving something back to the Institution that had given him so much. Together Senator McConnell and the University came up with the idea of creating a scholarship program for young leaders that would give them the kind of opportunities usually found only at the most elite private schools in the northeast.

McConnell Scholars are given full-tuition scholarships to attend the University of Louisville. If they meet basic academic and participation requirements of the Center, the scholarship is renewable for four years. Each semester students get to meet national leaders and take part in weekend colloquia on interesting books and topics that are not usually discussed in the classroom. Students take part in at least three trips during their four years at the University including trips to Washington, D.

The Fellowships and Scholar Programs office has a two-pronged mission: to support students considering application for national fellowships, and to also provide support for the University of South Carolina's Carolina and McNair Scholars. These scholarships are for the University of South Carolina undergraduate students from within South Carolina (Carolina Scholars) and from out-of-state (Robert C. McNair Scholars).

Google Scholar is the newest offering from Google that searches for scholarly materials such as peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from broad areas of research. Google Scholar searches a variety of undisclosed academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.

For first year students, a 3.25 GPA or above and a 24 ACT or above is required for full admission. For transfer students, a 3.25 GPA or above is required for full admission. Provisional admission requirements are the same for all students: 3.0-3.24 GPA and a 21-23 ACT. Provisionally admitted students gain full admittance once they attain a 3.25 GPA or above at Lewis University.

The final rosters for the McConnell 8th Grade and the Grayson HS Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams are not announced until after registration ends on October 20. If your athlete would like to play GAA Rec Basketball in the event they are not selected for these teams, you have three options: Register them for GAA Rec Basketball by October 20.

There are three basic stages to the process we use to choose new McConnell Scholars each year. First, the paper applications are vetted by faculty and staff associated with the McConnell Center for Political Leadership. The top 26-30 applicants are then invited to personal interviews at the University of Louisville. All interviews occur on the same day in late February or early March and are conducted by a panel of faculty, students, and community leaders associated with the Center.

The only way to become a Union Scholar is to have been asked to apply by Union College upon admission as a first-year student. Each year, top applicants to the college are offered the opportunity to apply to the program by writing an additional essay. The final group is chosen from among those who respond.

If you have been awarded a Presidential Scholarship, enrollment in the University Scholars Program is one of the benefits of that Scholarship. Thus you do not need to apply. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement program awards grants to institutions of higher education for projects designed to prepare participants for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The fundamental distinction between a new scholar and a regular scholar is that a new scholar has not had the opportunity to establish a record of research achievements after graduation, where as a regular scholar has been a grant holder on previous research grants and has established a record of achievements. A limited number of Visiting Scholar positions are available each year for outstanding scholars interested in spending time in residence at Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington. Scholars interested in applying should send a c.v., research proposal and proposed dates of residence to the School of Law's International Programs Office. There is no absolute start date. Based on the experience of other BIRCWH program in the past, the earliest date would probably be around February or March 2008. The date can be negotiated based on teaching and clinical responsibilities and how quickly these responsibilities can be reduced. The Scholar position is a full-time faculty position, e.g., tenure or clinical track, not a fellowship. At the time of the award, candidates must have a clinical doctorate or Ph.D.

Approximately, $25,000 in research funds are budgeted for each scholar on a yearly basis. The exact amount awarded may vary depending on how much the NIH cuts overall budget for the grant, etc… No, you do not have to obtain a degree. The decision whether or not to propose attaining a degree as part of your program should be based on the amount of research training you have had in the past. You can apply for both programs.

The Annual Paul Robeson Scholar-Athlete Awards Program is entering 20 years of honoring student-athletes for their academic accomplishments. The program was initiated in 1986 by Executive Ron Sims and Lt.
