The grey or black colour is the result of carbon fines (created in the manufacturing process of carbon cartridges) flushed out of the filter system by the water. Almost all new filter systems with carbon cartridges show this phenomenon to a greater or lesser extent when they are new. This is no cause for concern as the carbon is clean. In the first few days of use, simply let the water run from the dispenser faucet for about 30 seconds before catching the water fror use.

White, grey and black are 'achromatic' colours. Beige is also certainly a colour - a chromatic colour. So a black sample would be considered a colour - an achromatic colour. But when thinking of blackness as the total absence of light it probably isn't.

Each strand of hair is composed of a protein that has three layers: The protective outer layer called the cuticle. The second layer, the cortex, contains melanin. This is probably because your filter system has not yet been activated. Go to underneath your kitchen sink and you need to find a small chrome valve. This will be located very close to your cold water line and near the start of the blue tube. You need to check to see if the water is turned on. Once you have done this lift up the black lever on the filter tap and leave this on for 3 minutes. When 3 minutes is up you can push the black filter tap lever back down to its off position.

The biggest problem with hot water is the sloughing off of chemicals/compounds which had been adsorbed. The heat causes the carbon pores to open up. which could result in lead or chemicals being released into the water. And, the carbon would not effectively reduce contaminants in the water. Hot water is usually under 212 degrees, and that isn't hot enough to alter the raw materials, so there wouldn't be any damage to the filter itself.

If you have high colour in your water it is most likely a concentration of tannins. High tannin levels are found in most surface water supplies and some groundwater or simply in waters where large quantities of vegetation have decayed. Unfortunately tannins cannot simply be removed from water by a physical means of filtration. Tannins can be described as a colloidal suspension as it carries a negative charge and therefore will not simply fall out of solution like turbidity does.

If your black top is sheer or a knit, your best bet is to wear a nude colour. If your top has a low neckline and movement could reveal the edges of your bra, the best colour is black.

Occasionally, nappies suddenly start developing mysterious discolourations from urine. The common factor seemed at first to be teething. Anecdotal evidence is mounting that it's not teething itself that causes the stains, but paracetamol syrup medication. It is not clear at this time whether the causative substance is colouring, a sweetener, or something else: sorbitol is suspected.

First, the greying of the wood is a natural process as the wood ages. You can have the deck pressure-washed professionally, using a commercial deck cleaner. The blackened areas are usually a combination of mildew and decayed wood that must be removed with the cleaning. Cleaners are available that will clean and brighten the surface and clean the mildew. Drum sanding is an excellent way to restore a clean and level surface.

If no water comes out of the faucet(s), the water reservoir may have frozen. This can be caused by not enough wall clearance for air flow, or possibly a defective cold control. Freezing is more common in warm weather months.

The pack station does not boil or treat water. Campsites are remote enough that we feel safe in using the water. It you want to purify water bring your own filter pump or purification tablets.

After you install a new filter (this is the case with any/all brands of filter cartridges) you should run it for a few minutes. Generally cloudy or white water indicates air in the line. This is natural and normal with the replacement of a cartridge. Air will enter in the housing, lines and cartridge. Just run the water for a few minutes and the cloudy conditions will go away (unless you have very cold water in which case it is the oxygen in the water that could be making the water look cloudy).
