Pressure sensitive tape (PST) is a surface mount form of tape with a dry adhesive applied to the film to adhere to cartons. PST adhesives can be made from natural rubber, hot melt glues or acrylic chemicals. Natural rubber is the best but most expensive and can be used from 0 to 150 degrees F but can yellow with age. Acrylic is good on temperatures from 32 to 140 degrees F and will not yellow. Hot melt is the lowest-cost material and generally works from 40 to 120 degrees F.

CCT adhesives are usually laminated through a simple nip roll process which applies pressure to the adhesive and the material being bonded to bring them into contact. Many laminating processes use heat to enhance the bond between materials. Heat is often applied from underneath the laminate by a heat platen or it is applied directly to the adhesive by use of an “infrared” heat lamp.

Pressure sensitive labels are peel-and-stick labels. ASCII test format is a comma-delimited text file in electronic format that can be used by mailhouses to print addresses (a process known as ink jetting) directly onto the mailpiece. When working with a mailhouse to send your mailing, ONS recommends this format. You will save additional mailhouse costs associated with the manual labor required to "peel and stick" each pressure-sensitive label.

Pressure sensitive laminate have an adhesive and release liner and can applied to the media by pressure only. Heat activated laminate does not require a release liner and is applied to the media with heat and pressure. There are two types of heat activated laminate, one considered a high temperature 220-240°F and the other low temperature less than 180°F.

All of our films come with the adhesives already on them. There is a clear protective liner which must be removed and discarded before installation of the material. Water-activated adhesives are dry to the touch when the protective liner is removed, not tacky or sticky. To activate the adhesive, you must get it wet with a solution of soapy water. This allows you to position and handle the film easily in the installation process.

The PS Adhesive that we use is rubber based and will bond permanently to about 95% of the substrates that you want to attach to (See PSA Specification Page for details). The only substrates that we warn against using rubber based adhesive on are soft vinyls or fabrics. As a rule our adhesive works well on hard surfaces, not soft ones. We sell our Hook and Loop Fastening Tape on rolls. For Sew On, our rolls are typically 50 Yards long. For PS Adhesive, our rolls are 25 Yards long.

Yes and No. Spray-Lock has some characteristics that behave like a pressure sensitive adhesive and others that do not. For example, Spray Lock is similar in its ability to have a long open time before the adhesive 'goes off' or expires. However, Spray Lock is unlike pressure sensitive adhesives in that it will set hard 24-48 hours after pressure has been applied and will not be 're-stickable' (unless you spray area with a refresh spray).
