SGS is an extremely rare disease. We know of several dozen cases worldwide, counting personal knowledge and cases presented in medical articles.

The Space Generation Summit (SGS) will bring together 250 international delegates between age 18 and 35 to develop and contribute a youth vision of space to the World Space Congress. All applications for the SGS must be lodged through the PLIs. The relevant PLI will assess your application and determine whether the loan application requires the guarantee of the SGS. If so, the PLI will refer the guarantee application to the Trade and Industry Department of the HKSAR for consideration.

The MAS issues SGS on behalf of the Singapore Government. SGS are sold at auctions, using a multiple-price or "pay-as-you-bid" auction format for T-bill auctions and a uniform-price format for bond auctions. Only the Primary Dealers (PDs) in the SGS market are allowed to submit bids at the auctions. However, should you wish to participate in the auctions, you can submit your bids through any one of the PDs or through any Secondary Dealers who will submit bids to the PDs on your behalf.

First, approach any participating bank that is a Primary Dealer or Secondary Dealer of the SGS market to open a SGS trading account. With this account, you can purchase SGS over the counter with these banks. As SGS are scripless, ownership of SGS is reflected as a book entry in the investor's account with the bank.

Separate trading of principal and interests of SGS is currently not available. However, MAS has begun to align the coupon payment dates of all new SGS bond issues to facilitate the stripping of SGS in future.

The probable cause is a recessive genetic defect carried by both parents, so that the disease does not show up in the parents and 3 out of 4 of their children (speaking statistically). It is not known what chromosomes carry the defect.

There is no genetic or blood test for SGS. Physical examination of the affected infant, looking for the various features of the syndrome, is the only diagnostic method. Ultrasound could be used to detect the kidney defect, and radiologic diagnosis could be used to detect the skeletal abnormalities. There is no prevention or cure for SGS, but early diagnosis enables parents to know what to expect and get the help in place that they are going to need.

Treatment is only supportive, and cannot affect the outcome of the disorder. Examples of treatment would be gastrostomy feeding tubes to facilitate feeding, antibiotics for the frequent urinary tract infections, anti-seizure medications to subdue the seizures, and comfort measures such as oxygen, tranquilizers, or pain relievers.

Unfortunately, there is currently no national organization for SGS. You can request copies of medical articles listed on this website. For support from other SGS families, you could join the Yahoo! support group. There are messages to be read going back to the year 2000 and several families probably eager to help and support you through this. People with SGS in the family are advised to see a genetic counselor.

The problem is over-pronation: therefore the patient should be fitted with custom orthotics and proper footwear. Recovery can be expected to occur over a period of months. Orthotics will not cause the physical deformity to regress, but will arrest any further progression and likely stop the pain. It is important to note that when the bunion is severe and requires surgery, the bunion can be corrected, but will re-develop unless the root cause of over-pronation is corrected.

Contrary to popular belief, Legionnaire's disease is a common disease. There are estimated 25,000 deaths per year in the U.S. from it. Most cases are never diagnosed as being Legionnaire's disease, but are simply recognized as a case of pneumonia. Another common misconception is that anyone and everyone is at risk. Legionnaire's disease is an "opportunistic infection", meaning that it attacks individuals who are already ill or in generally poor health.

The reported prevalence rates of FASD vary widely depending on the population studied and the intensity of case ascertainment.
