I have seen several TBD over 10 years of age and they still look like young dogs . I have been told they live between 12-16 years.

That is correct... there are under 50 TBD in America today. It will be years before this breed will make it in the dog show scene.

This is up to the way you raise them. I believe any dog will chase the cat if provoked by the cat. The TBD is a true hunter and will take out rats and any small critter. If they are raised together, I believe they should be able to get along.

The best situation for multiple dogs in a home is one where the pets are neutered & are of the opposite sex.

They will bark at strangers in or out of the living area. My TBD bark at anyone who comes to my gate but are soon quiet wnen I tell them to be quiet.

TRD's are naturally protective of their family and territory. They do tend to be aggressive toward other dogs, unless properly socialized at a young age. The females can be more aggressive with each other as it is natural for them to be protective of their home. Males will often play together if introduced appropriately. But not always.

We do not have a place to hold stray dogs (or cats). If it is during the day on weekdays, we can contact the Dog Warden for stray dogs (they do not handle cats, the Humane Society takes the cats). If it is after hours or weekends - if you can hold the dog, we can have it picked up the next weekday morning. Or. you may take it to the Humane Society and put it in their drop off boxes.
