lsquo;Latex-free’ is the term used to describe products that are not manufactured from natural rubber latex (NRL). lsquo;Latex-safe’ is the term used to describe an environment that minimises the risk of a reaction occurring in sensitised or allergic individuals. Natural latex is made from 100% natural rubber. Talalay latex is a type of latex that combines natural and synthetic latex usually 70% natural latex and 30% synthetic rubber made from raw materials derived from oil based products.

Natural latex is obtained as the sap which is exuded when the bark of the tree, Hevea Brasiliensis, is cut or ???tapped???. The rubber phase is ca 93% natural hydrocarbon; the remainder comprises natural products such as mineral salts and proteins. Rubber tress are cultivated, mainly in South East Asia, through a new planting and replanting program by large scale plantation and small farmers to ensure a continuous sustainable supply of natural latex.

The only supports that do not have Latex are Compro AB, MalleoLoc and EpiPoint. ViscoSpot, ViscoHeel N, ViscoHeel K, ViscoPed S, and ViscoPed also do not have Latex. All of the others have Natural Rubber Latex. They are a medical product with proven effectiveness and durability; therefore, they are an excellent value.
