No. SAT and ACT scores are not required to determine your eligibility to be admitted to a California community college, nor may they be used in lieu of community college assessment tests.

All college applications dedicate a section in their application where students can provide test results. It is important to include every score as well as those that are pending. In addition, colleges will require confirmation of student scores directly from the testing agency. Testing agencies will release scores only with the explicit consent of the students. Therefore, students are encouraged to contact ETS or ACT in a timely fashion.

We do not require the SAT / ACT for admission. However, we do recommend that you still take them. If you have taken the test, feel free to forward your scores to the Office of Admissions for review.

That is entirely up to the student, depending upon his or her educational goals. The college career and advising center will be an excellent resource as will GMCHS teachers. Middle College students take all required state and district tests including Program Assessments and STAR9 and CAT6 tests. (We are proud to note that the API for GMCHS was the highest in the district last year!).

Call Prometric at 800-688-5796 and tell them you have forgotten the date and time of your test appointment. Give them your student's name, address, and phone number; they will familyirm that you are eligible to test, and provide you with your appointment information.

We require a score from one of the two national standardized tests for registration purposes. Students can take either the ACT or the SAT to satisfy this requirement. Presently, the writing component for each exam is not required.

Naropa University operates a test optional admissions program. If you would like to submit ACA and/or SAT scores, we would be happy to include them in our review process. Our ACT code is 4853 and our SAT code is 0908. On average, Thacher students take 2-3 SAT II tests. Each student, based on his or her particular area of strength, and with the guidance of the counseling office can select their tests. For example, students who have completed Math III are ready to take the SAT II Math 2C. The Educational Testing Service (a branch of the College Board) will continue to provide sample tests in the Registration Bulletin; these tests are also available in the College Counseling office.

Emory now requires the new SAT with writing for students graduating high school in or after 2007. Emory has a similar policy regarding the change in the ACT. We began requiring the ACT with the writing sample for the class of 2007.

The CCC Registry Plus is a large-scale computerized database of those individuals interested in employment at a California Community College.

The California Community Colleges should not consider the ATPC the sole provider of alternate text, but a resource. Colleges should continue to develop their capacities to scan material and perform OCR, to use Braille software, and to do Braille embossing. this time, the ATPC does not offer alternate media services to other institutions. The ATPC may eventually offer these services to the California State University and to the University of California.

Yes. California community colleges welcome qualified international students to their academic, vocational, and technical programs. California community college staff feel that the presence of international students enriches the academic environment for all of their students in addition to providing a quality education for students from other parts of the world.

California Assembly Bill 422, which became effective in January 2000, requires textbook publishers to supply California Colleges with the electronic files of their books at no cost, when requested for students with print-related disabilities. It encourages California Colleges to create a central repository of electronic files so the publisher can fill a request only once, and that file will be redistributed to any California College student with a print-related disability who needs it.
