Different databases work differently with EndNote. Some allow direct export to EndNote (such as Web of Science, and Ebsco Databases), while others may require additional steps (for example the databases from Cambridge Scientific Abstracts including LLBA, Sociological Abstracts, Index Islamicus and PAIS International) and OCLC World CAT) . The following are instructions for these using the INTERNET EXPLORER browser.

From the GoogleScholar search page, click on the Scholar Preferences link to the right of the Scholar search box. Scroll to the bottom of the Scholar Preferences page, and in the 'Bibliography Manager' section, click the radio button next to 'Show link to import citations into' and choose EndNote. Note: If the EndNote toolbar is not showing, look under the View menu, select Toolbars, then select EndNote.

Right-click on the following link: U of Texas-Austin.enz. (On a Mac, press the Control key when clicking.) Save the file into your Endnote Connections folder. This is often c:\program files\endnote\connections\ but will vary depending on where your copy of EndNote is installed. (On a Mac, this should be in your Applications folder .) Once you have installed the file, you can begin searching the University of Texas Library Catalog directly from EndNote if you have an internet connection.

Here at UT, you cannot use the EndNote Connection files for our subscription databases. Instead, you will need to either use the exporting feature of the database or the importing features of EndNote to add the references to your EndNote library. Instructions are available above under "How do I Use EndNote with Library databases?". A list showing which databases use exporting and which use importing is available on the Database Compatibility page (coming soon).

When using databases that do not have an export function, you will use the Import command to import text files of references into an EndNote library. Importing requires that you use filters. Filters exist which correspond to various databases and the vendors that provide them. For instructions on how to import from a database using a filter, see the Academic Search Complete example under "How do I Use EndNote with Library databases?".

Note: There are over 20 Reference types available. As an advanced option, custom reference types can be created. Author names: Enter either "last name, first name" (eg., Shakespeare, William) OR "first name last name" (William Shakespeare).

Endnote is a program that allows the user to easily create bibliographies for papers and projects while researching inside the Online Catalog or various online databases. Endnote may be used to directly search the Online Catalog and certain databases or information downloaded from databases can be imported into Endnote for use as well. The LSU Libraries has information on Endnote and the files a user would need to use it in conjunction with our databases available at this webpage.

Click OK. The EndNote Format Bibliography window will close and your bibliography and the references in your text will reformat.

When there are no links to full text articles, there may be a link directly to the Library Online Library Catalog from the database's article record. This will link to a record telling the journal title holdings and location when available so that you can go find the article in the print journal. The Online Research Resources (ORR) is a database that provides access to most electronic information resources (e-journals, e-books, electronic indexes and abstracts) the Library has available.

Yes. BRCC Library Databases may be accessed from home or the office through remote access. In order to get access to the databases you must enter your BRCC library user ID number and pin. The BRCC library user ID is your Social Security Number plus 01 if you are a student, and 11 if you are a faculty or staff member - example: 99999999901. The PIN is "changeme" for everyone until changed by the user.

EndNote library is a collection of references, each containing the information required to create a bibliography. The references may also include supplemental information such as keywords, abstracts, notes, and URLs. Rather than creating a new library for each project, we recommend that you create one larger library.

Your institution provides access to third-party databases. It is best to contact your reference librarian to find out which databases you are authorized to access.

The Library of Congress has inventories and catalogs of foreign archives and libraries to help you identify resources and their locations. You may consult user guides written by these institutions at the Library. Based on first hand knowledge, the reference specialist may also advise you on foreign research such as research services and facilities, requirements for use and professional colleagues to contact.

All of COM Library's online resources can be accessed remotely from any location from which you have Internet access. To access the databases remotely, go to COM Library's Databases page and click on any database. If the database has the symbol, you will have to login using your library patron # and last name.

Once your student photo I.D. is activated, you will be able to access the library's catalog remotely from home, work, etc. Remote access to other electronic databases is explained on a handout available at the circulation counter. You will be welcome to use materials within the library. Permission to check out an item will generally be refused; however, your request may be granted at the discretion of the librarian.
