If there is no "Article" link, then Article Linker can only take you to the journal or the database's search page. From there you can search or browse the journal's table of contents to locate the issue and article you need, or search the database to retrieve the full-text article. (Some databases needing this type of manual search include America's Newspapers, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers, Education Full Text, Readers Guide Full Text.

If the full text is not available in the database, you will need to do a Journal Title search in NEWCAT to see if the Library has the print version of the journal in which the article is published.

Check your local public library or college/university library. They may have the journal or book on their shelves, or they may have access to PsycARTICLES. If not, they may be able to get the article for you through interlibrary loan. APA members have several options for individual access to PsycARTICLES. Many of the databases that do not contain the full text themselves will include a link that says something like: "ArticleLinker" or "Find Alternate Full-Text " or "Check for Full-Text availability". When you click this link, it will look to see if the full text of that journal is available in one of our other databases using our LIU Online, Print, and Microform Journal Holdings page.

Bibliographic citations, e-journal articles, and electronic database records may be sent to yourself or others via e-mail, and retrieved elsewhere. In most electronic resources, there are icons to mark or select records, and icons to e-mail or export records. Please see the Help index of the resource that you are using for more information. More detailed help is available on printing from e-journals or databases.

The fulltext option is not available when the Library does not have direct access to the article either by Open Access, via a traditional subscription, or pay-per-view arrangement. When the full-text article is not available, you can request that it be sent to you by selecting Document Delivery Services. In most cases, an electronic article (.pdf file) is available from another Library or resource network and can be emailed to you.

If you are a student in good standing, you may use the Inter Library Loan (ILL) service. Obtain the form from the librarian at the Reference Desk and complete the specific information about the item you need. Once the form is submitted, the library staff member will look for item at member libraries. If the material is located, you will be contacted as to when the material is available for pick at the library.

PubMed's Single Citation Matcher is a fill-in-the-blank form that allows you to enter partial journal citation information to locate a record for a specific single article, or items indexed from a particular volume or issue of a journal. The Single Citation Matcher is available from PubMed's sidebar.

Some providers' systems do not support linking at all levels. We link as deeply as we can find a way to, sometimes by faking user searches. If you know a way to link deeper to a particular resources than is currently possible in CUFTS, please contact me. I've activated Science Direct on Elsevier (or another publisher site) but I'm not getting links to the fulltext of articles! Elsevier and many other publisher sites rely on DOIs for linking to the article level.

Microsoft has provided the ADO (ActiveX Data Objects) library as a way of using data in a range of systems, including web applications.

The librarians can request magazine/journal articles from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. You can submit 3 requests at a time. For more information, refer to the Interlibrary Loan section of this FAQ, or ask your librarian.

When you have typed in the title of the article and pressed the button "Gå videre" (Continue), you must search for the journal. You do this by typing in parts of the title of the journals. (Parts of the title with an * at the end will suffice). If the journal exists, you select it from the drop-down list. If the journal does not exist in the database, you must select "Registrer nytt tidsskrift" (Register new journal) and type in information about the journal manually.

You can request photocopies of articles from the Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL/DD). Click on Login to My Account. Login with your campus NetID and password. Click Return. The first time you do this, you will need to enter your campus address information , as well as your library borrower identification number (above the bar code on your I-card) into the ILLIAD Patron form. Thereafter it will be there automatically, needing editing to update. Click Submit.

Article numbers are used in place of traditional page numbers for electronic documents and can be numeric or alphanumeric. They are also occasionally used in print journals in place of page numbers.

If a Current Contents Connect record has only an article number, then the article number is displayed instead of the page number in the Source field. The Article Number field only appears in records that have both page numbers and article numbers. In the case of American Physical Society journals, the last 4 digits of the article number appear in the page number field in each article record.

You can always determine whether or not Oesterle Library has an article by using the library's Find Journals page as long as you know the title of the journal and the date of the article that you're looking for. Enter the title of the journal you're looking for in the search box on the Find Journals page, then click "Search." Find the journal that you're looking for in the list of search results.

To find articles within a journal or a magazine, you need to use an article index. Many of these indexes are available online to UIC users through the UIC Library Website. To find the article index that best fits your subject, see the Subject-area List of Selected Databases. If you do not hold a subscription to a particular journal title then you may purchase short-term access on a pay-per-article basis (where a PDF link to the article is available from the Oxford Journals website) or via pay-per-view links provided for our title through Ingenta. Individual print copies may also be ordered via document supply services such as the British Library Document Supply Centre.

If the full text of the article isn't online, go to MAC???s Library Catalog or look in the Mac Mag List on the circulation desk to see if the library owns the journal, magazine or newspaper. Do a journal title search of the journal, magazine or newspaper that contains your article. The periodical collection is arranged alphabetically by title. Check to see if MAC has the year in which your article appears. If the year you need is a recent issue, go to Current Periodicals.

If the article you are looking for is not located at Augustana, go to the library homepage and click on “Request an Item”. From the next list, select “Request an Article from another library”. Fill out the form and submit, be sure to indicate that the Publication Type is Journal and the Service Type is Copy. If you have any questions with your request, please speak with one of the Reference Librarians.

Our periodical indexes are all online. Go to the Databases by Subject page and choose which subject best fits your topic. Then you will have a list of resources that will say whether they contain journal article citations or full-text articles. If you find a citation without a full-text link, check the FLO catalog or our print guide to see if we own the journal title in print. If we don't, you may request it through Interlibrary loan.

You can limit your search to professional journals in an article database, like Expanded Academic ASAP, by checking the box "to refereed publications". In other databases, you'll see the phrase "peer reviewed".
