The ACRCSD maintains an electric and a manual wheelchair for use by students on campus on a temporary or emergency basis. Prior arrangements must be made and they are loaned on a first come, first served basis. They are available for 'on campus' use only.

Although at entry level it is not essential to have a specialised sports wheelchair many of the sports use equipment and chairs to make the sport easier to play. WheelPower does not provide funding for sports wheelchairs as these are very personal and are available from a number of manufacturers and suppliers. At junior level there are some organisations who do help with funding including The Lords Taverners, Get Kids Going and Whizz Kidz. Contact details are on the WheelPower website.

We are able to provide manual wheelchairs for long term hire at a charge of £2.50 per day. We also have two small, fold-up scooters available for long term hire at a cost of £5 per day. When requiring a vehicle for long term hire it is advisable to book well in advance. Please note that charges for long term hire are non refundable.

Yes, the Monorail system is completely ADA compliant. Wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters and motorized scooters that assist those with a disability are permitted on the Monorail. All Monorail stations have accessible elevator service to all levels. There is level boarding from the platform to all trains. All Monorail cars have space to accommodate mobility vehicles. Passengers boarding are required to place them in the locked position for the duration of the ride.

A library barcode attached to your ID. (Your barcode is good as long as you are a current student, faculty member or staff member). Members of these organizations have limited borrowing privileges and must register at the Circulation Desk to receive a library barcode.

You will need your Go-Card. We ask for identification to make sure no one else borrows books under your name. Your Go-Card has a barcode printed on it, and the barcode number should include your student number. If your card does not have a barcode, and / or your student number is not part of the barcode, please make sure you see the photographer on Photo Retake day and ask for a new card to be printed.

Only rarely does degenerative back disease lead to paralysis to this extent. The vast majority of patients with back pain due will have no paralysis and will not require a wheelchair.

You must go to your student's school and complete a Special Needs Bus Application & Confidential Medical Information Bus Form. A recent photograph of your student is required on the form. Once the application is completed, it may take up to five school days to implement the route assignment if appropriate. If a lift bus is not available, other arrangements may be made. Wheelchairs are transported on Tangipahoa Parish School System's school buses in a forward facing position when possible.
