People who feed feral cats are often quiet about their work. They fear for the safety of their colony. At times, everyone needs a break or will be out of town and needs help feeding the cats. Talk to your friends and others you trust. Invite them to join you when you feed so they can see what you do and how you do it. If there is a feral cat program in your area, volunteer with them and get to know others who care about feral cats and who you can trust.

There are no state public health laws that prohibit people from feeding birds. Also, in most areas there are no local/city ordinances that address this issue. Some home owner's associations have adopted rules that prohibit excessive bird feeding. Consult your neighborhood home owner's association (if one exists). If bird feeding is permissible, it is still important to be considerate to your neighbors.

Usually, a truly feral cat does not meow, runs from people, and stays hidden much of the time. National Service Dogs is always in need of volunteers to raise puppies, help in our kennels and assist with fundraising events. At this time NSD is also in need of Labrador and Golden Retrievers, aged 2 years or younger. A cargo van is also needed to transport dogs. NSD is actively seeking funding for a new building project. NSD’s training centre is currently a renovated barn that no longer meets the needs of a rapidly growing charity!
