No; we wanted to make this series of product as simple as possible, Usually the engineers at Alinco think of adding features to the radio, but for these models they started with subtracting the features from the current full-feature HT. We know it's missing CTCSS decode, DTMF encode, external antenna connector, multi-function keypads, wide-band RX coverage, etc, but DJ-S series offers the go everywhere, easy to use, best valued Ham radio equipment ever made.

You can connect most phones to an external antenna by using an installable hands free kit that comes with an external antenna adapter. You can also purchase an external antenna adapter that allows you to connect the antenna directly to your phone. Some phones have an external antenna port. Other phones require that you remove your fixed antenna and insert an external antenna adapter to that port. Still other phones have no way to connect an external antenna to it at all. The MM2211 does not support an external antenna. The MM2211 uses a combination of vertical and horizontal antenna arrays to maximize connectivity.

There is a built-in Hot Shoe in which an optional Safe Sync Hot Shoe to PC Sync Adapter (Item # 200329) can be used to connect a PC sync connector cable. You can locate this item through our dealers, or by the Olympus Emporium.

If the antenna will collapse, lower it as much as possible. If it is easily removed, take if off. As long as it will lower to near the level of the roof and is near the front or back window it will be OK. A large plastic test tube is supplied to go over the antenna to provide a larger surface area so it is not as likely to puncture the material.

An external antenna is mounted on the outside of your vehicle to increase your phone’s range for optimum performance. These antennas are used with mobile phones (cellular phones permanently mounted in a vehicle) and with handheld phones that employ a hands-free kit mounted inside a vehicle. In a sense, all cellular phones have an “external” antenna that sticks out of the phone when the phone is in use.

Not all portable phones can connect to an extra antenna. It depends on your phone model and the availability of a connector to mate up with an antenna. There are many antennas to choose from. They include stubby antennas that are perfect for traveling, ¼-wave antennas you can use outside your vehicle, magnetic mount antennas for the top of your vehicle, and small antennas that suction to the window.

We currently don't. They are usually needed for extended range applications. For small distances and spaces, onboard antenna makes more sense.

Some Verizon Wireless PC Cards may come with either a removable antenna or an extra connection port for an external antenna. This can be used when you are inside a building or a car to help pull in a stronger signal and improve your connection in fringe or low reception areas. Several readers have been acclaiming the GE SuperRadio III as an excellent choice for picking up distant AM stations that carry OTR programming. Although the tuning dial has notoriously poor calibration, the sensitivity and selectivity seem superior to other radios. Some readers have had good success with the Select-A-Tenna antenna advertised in several magazines, and the Grove Catalog. The S-A-T seems to be rather directional, and may eliminate off-axis interference.

The antenna can be mounted in several different locations. The roof, the trunk or my personal favorite, inside on the rear parcel shelf. Mounting the antenna inside will cut down on your reception, but until smaller antennas come out, this is a good alternative. Many of today's cellular and digital PCS phones are equipped with RF ports which enable you to connect an external antenna to your phone. RF ports may be located on the back, bottom, top or side of your cell phone. Unfortunately some phones have no port that would enable to attach an external antenna to. NMO mounts are used to connect your antenna to your vehicle. Most NMO mounts are installed by drilling a hole in the roof of your vehicle. NMO mounts are typically offered as roof or lip mounts.

The PR-411 and PR-414 will feed two TV sets or one TV set and one FM radio. The PR-414 will also feed an AM Radio and it covers the shortwave AM band as well as the Broadcast AM band. If there are several sets on board, consider using one of our combination power box/amplifiers which will feed up to 8 TV sets. For larger systems and higher performance, consider our PR-420 and PR-422 antennas as used on Merchant Ships, Cruise Liners and by the Navy.

The external antenna jack provides connection for an active external GPS antenna. Models GPS-100 and GPS-200 requires a straight male MCX connector as a right angled connector may not fit into the unit. WGPX series models require a MMCX external antenna type connection.

Although it is possible to use external antennas with the Unwired service we do not support or endorse such use. If you are experiencing any difficulty receiving an optimum signal, we recommend that you use the Unwired reception assistant, or contact Unwired technical support.

Unlike older gps units that require an external antenna, the slimtrak uses a super powerful internal antenna that radiates the signal outward allowing communication with the satellites. A clear view of the sky is not needed allowing the slimtrak to be placed covertly.

We recommend that the external be mounted to the exterior upper surface of the vehicle whenever possible for best reception of the satellite signal. The unit will work in many cases with the antenna on your dash, although with reduced performance.

This depends on your vehicle and requirements. If your looking for something neat and easily portable then internal is better, the Cyclops and Road Angel have internal antennas (but external antennas are available if required). If you have a re-radiating/metalised windscreen then you may need an external antenna to either go outside the vehicle or on the back parcel shelf for satellite reception. The Origin , Snooper S6R Neo and RoadPilot all come with external antennas.

To the best of our knowledge, the only supported adapter that has a connector is Proxim ORiNOCO 802.11b/g ComboCard Gold 8470. We are not aware of any a/b/g cards with connectors. Yes. This message may appear when you're trying to install the CommView for WiFi driver for more than one adapter, or when you replaced the old adapter with a new one (e.g. you had a 802.11b card, and now you want to use CommView for WiFi with your new 802.11g card).

Our basic antenna extension kit provides all of the adapters, line amplifiers, and cables required to extend your satellite antenna up to 125 feet from the radio. The antenna can be extended up to a maximum distance of 350 feet the radio. This allows for the use of XM radio in cases where you may be located on the ground floor of a multi story building. A What ever you do, do not roll it into a small convenient coil. It will become an RF choke. If you cannot let it lie loose under a seat or in a headliner, wrap it into a yarn-like skein of about 12 to 16 inches, put a wire tie in the center and tuck it under your dash, seat, etc. A Absolutely! High SWR will limits distance and may cause serious damage to your transmitter. The time spent tuning your antenna is time well spent. Don't take the chance.
