In addition to taking the designated STAR tests in English, limited English-proficient Spanish-speaking students who first enrolled in California public schools fewer then 12 months prior to testing must take a primary language test in Spanish. Primary language testing is optional if the students first enrolled more than 12 months prior to testing. The designated test in Spanish for spring 2000 is the Spanish Assessment of Basic Education, Second Edition (SABE/2).

No! Although GATE students may make great debaters, many are overcommitted and can't add another activity. Our experience with programs that limit debate to GATE students is that those programs are not as large as others, do not have as much success as others, and do not generally last as long. Your best option is to make the program open to all interested participants and to try to track down the orally gifted students in your school.

We do not take more than eight to ten students per class and this is to enable quality teaching and time between lecturers and students. This way of teaching would be closer to the European standard where students are taught in small numbers. the numbers of students grow, the School will employ more qualified lecturers and still maintain the same number of students per class.

The primary factor to be considered in determining the allocation of funds for any Title I-C project will be the number of students to be served thorough a quality education program. Priority must be given to those considered most-in-need i.e., those who are failing, or most at risk of failing, to meet the state's content and performance standards; and those whose education has been interrupted during the regular school year.

No. We had young people from a wide variety of backgrounds participate in Storm Corps. Some were in or just out of the military, others were in between jobs while others were in the workforce. The only requirement for applicants is that they are between 18 and 24 years-old. We encourage young people from all walks of life to pursue ASB.

We currently do not employ specialists in ESL/EFL (English as a Second or Foreign Language). However, some of our consultants are International students or have taught International students. We can provide some help to students with limited English proficiency. We are aware of many of their writing concerns, and we can provide them with help in editing techniques. As with all our clients, we limit visits to two per week and one per day, and we cannot edit or proofread for them.

Over the past few years, Georgetown's nursing students' NCLEX pass rate is 97% on the first try. And this past round (2006), all of our students passed on the first try for a 100% pass rate. Georgetown nursing students begin clinical experience during their first year of study. Students have a Foundations of Nursing class during their first semester at Georgetown. They begin clinicals second semester during the first year.

Each procedure is graded according to difficulty and tasks become progressively more complex. Pace is regulated by mastery, so the number of tasks completed during training differ from student to student. In other words, once the student passes a task, he or she is then allowed to progress to the next challenge (a more difficult task).

While we can not guarantee employment almost every past student who actively sought a job upon completion of the program has received at least a seasonal position. Agencies that have accepted our graduates include the National Park Service, several State Park systems, the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. During the PRTP we conduct application workshops, refer jobs to students and review and critique resumes.

When you enroll through Challenge at the University, you are a part-time Portland State University student. You will have the privileges of any other part-time student including a computer account and full access to the Library, including its extensive online databases. When you complete your Challenge program course, you are entitled to an official Portland State University transcript.
