Ordnance Survey products are supplied to organisations for internal business use (IBU) only, as set out in the NHS terms. You will be sent a copy of these terms and conditions once we receive your application to join the pilot. a headline, IBU is defined as the use of Ordnance Survey data in the ordinary day-to-day activities involved in the internal administration and running of your business or organisation, and not for other commercial exploitation.

Order forms are supplied to eligible organisations as part of the joining process – once they have registered their details via the Ordnance Survey website. They are then also available to download from the Members' area.

The scientific stations have antenna monuments that are effectively fixed to solid rock or stable structures and data recorded there are suitable for high accuracy long term monitoring applications such as ocean tide loading and vertical land movement research. Some formerly scientific stations, Barking and Camborne for example, are now operated by the OSGB.

The University has an Ordnance Survey Educational Copyright Licence. Allows photocopying (but not digitisation) of OS maps for teaching, research and educational purposes.

Other Ordnance Survey products may be added in future years, although this is entirely at the discretion of JISC and Ordnance Survey. However, Digimap is a delivery mechanism to which many other datasets can be added. You can publish maps taken from Digimap or created by you in a variety of publications. Clause 3.1.7 states that you may incorporate maps in printed and electronic versions of conference papers, articles, articles published in a journal publication and poster sessions. Clause 3.1.14 states that you may publish maps on your institution's website as part of a course or project. There are limits on the size of maps you can publish. These are listed in Appendix 4 of the Sub-Licence Agreement.

Yes. Clause 3.1.11 states that you may use the maps and data as part of a presentation at a seminar, conference, or workshop or other similar activity. Remember, however, that you must be an Authorised User and that you cannot give the data to a third party for any reason or leave the data behind in any form.

The rules of the JISC-Ordnance Survey sub-licence apply to data derived from Ordnance Survey data as well as to the original Ordnance Survey data itself. Derived data is defined as: "any data that originates from an original Ordnance Survey Dataset is considered to be derived data."

Different members of staff will each need to register to obtain their own MapPilot passwords. Teachers and other school staff may allow other users (such as pupils in class) to use of the Ordnance Survey maps and data under their direct and personal supervision. It is important that individual password holders never divulge their password to any of their supervised users. All usage is tracked to individual passwords and Authorised Users remain responsible for data obtained via their passwords.

OS Net is currently used by 130 of our surveyors to collect field data for the production of our various mapping products. The use of GPS has meant significant changes to the way we collect data and has enabled cost savings over time.

Our plan is that in due course we will upgrade the OS Net base-station network to receive both GPS and Galileo signals. Some OS Net services are ‘free to air’ through the GPS website. Will this continue now that commercial services are available. Yes. With regard to penetration you can multiply the penetration depth in the Bullet Test Tube by 1.34 to make a relatively accurate prediction of how the bullet would have penetrated inside ordnance gelatin. However, ordnance gelatin does not offer a reliable means for measuring the wound cavity bullets create. And, ordnance gelatin offers a great visual exaggeration of the affects of what has been called the “temporary stretch cavity”.

The Health Promotion Research Centre, NUI, Galway is responsible for organising the study in Ireland ( http://www.nuigalway.ie/hpr/), which is funded by the Health Promotion Policy Unit and the Office of the Minister for Children, Department of Health and Children. The Centre also conducted the survey in 1998 and 2002.

The Department of Education and Science supports the study and recognises its importance. We have also fully informed the organisations representing school management, teachers and parents. Approval to conduct the HBSC survey was obtained from the NUI, Galway Research Ethics Committee.

At the end of the Discover Phase, there will be a report communicated to all employees of what was discovered. The survey is an important piece of the organizational assessment in this phase.
