OfficeVision/400 generated SCS spooled files which could be sent to different types of local or remote printers.

Basically there are two ways to display the contents of a spooled file. 1) In a 5250 session you can use option 5 on the WRKSPLF screen. This way you can display the text of SCS and AFP spooled files. 2) PC users can use Operations Navigator, navigate to Basic Operations -> Printed Output and double click on a spooled file. Automatically the spooled file will be shown using the AFP Viewer. This way you can display the text, formatting and graphics of SCS and AFP spooled files.

OfficeVision/400 accessed the AS/400 database through a file or a query. Because all merge functions ran as native AS/400 jobs, all AS/400 database access occured locally, without any network connections.

All shell documents (templates) used by OfficeVision/400 were stored in Revisable Form Text (RFT) format in the shared folders. Shared folders are also known as /QDLS in the Integrated File System (IFS). Shell documents could be created and edited using a 5250 character based editor.

The xrpcc tool does in fact generate the WSDL file, but due to a bug it gets deleted along with the source files if the -keep option is not specified. You can use the -keep option which will cause xrpcc to not delete the WSDL or .java source files. Go into the folder where the .jar ( NS workbench application is ) for eg: C:NSNAM> ns sim.tcl. The sim.tcl is the script file.
