I started the series back in the mid 1980's when I met Acheron and based several short-stories on him and the vampire hunters he ran with. From there, the Hunters, as they were then called, stayed with me and I started the first actual Dark-Hunter book in 1992 with Odette, Acheron and Gregori. Julian's book was written in 1995 and submitted as the option book for Daemon's Angel. From there the stories escalated and I worked on them in between other projects.

They are immortal protectors who save human beings from the vampires who prey on them. And yes, some of the Dark-Hunters are vampires and some are not.
