Owners of dogs can be issued a violation notice with a $25.00 fine. Second or subsequent offenses for excessive barking of their dog incur a $50.00 fine. Some irresponsible dog owners deliberately place their dogs outside neglecting to bring them promptly back in. These owners then leave for the day being unaware that their pets are barking and annoying their neighbors.

The first action you should take is to speak with your neighbor. You may be able to resolve the problem by discussing it with your neighbor. Your neighbor may not be aware that their dogs' barking is disturbing you. Dogs often bark when their owners are not home. If for some reason you are unable to resolve the problem by speaking with your neighbor, you should contact the Ombudsman's Office at (803) 929-6000 and file a complaint.

San Jose code enforcement is done through the Santa Clara County Animal Control. A formal request for disciplinary action to be taken against another owner by the HOA should be made in writing and contain specific information regarding the offence, such as time and date and whether Animal Control was contacted and responded.

If your dog is inside and wearing the wrap, then the dog door should be kept closed or his access to the dog door should be blocked. It is very important that your dog not have the repeated experience of being allowed outside to do his business while wearing the wrap. If he goes outdoors and urinates in the wrap, he will become confused and decide that urinating in the wrap is necessary. This carelessness may destroy the MarkOut? wrap as a training tool.

Look at the door from the outside of the home. The side with the hinges will determine right or left hand door. (Example: hinges on the right, the door is a right-hand door.)

The best thing to do is to call 1-800-PICK-UPS and give them your tracking number. They can give you the best information at that point. In most locations you can drive to the UPS center to pick up your package, but you should call 1-800-PICK-UPS to find out where that location is. Per FLCA Guidelines, barking dogs must be brought inside.  If this isn't happening, usually the best approach is to discuss the problem with your neighbor.  If that doesn't work, call the FLCA Site Manager or write a letter to FLCA (contact information).  The Site Manager and/or Board will work with you to decide what action is necessary.

First, notify the Police Department by calling 297-0241. This problem may be resolved by simply having a Police Officer visit the pet owner and inform them of the City’s regulations regarding excessive noise or animals running at large. If the problem continues, the City Manager can formally notify the pet owner by letter of the complaint and request that the situation be resolved immediately. Contact the City Manager at 297-6041.

Train the dog to reduce his barking, using the PestClear Bark Trainer. It costs less than sending the dog to be professionally trained, and our customers report great success. Of course, as with any form of animal training, we can’t give an absolute guarantee it will work, but it’s worth trying especially if it calms those neighbours down !

Cats can be declawed with very few ill effects. Cats that fight or are often exposed to dogs may be at a disadvantage. It is recommended that declawed cats remain indoor only.
