Recommending a program is like recommending a car. It really depends on what features you want and your personal taste. Over the last ten years I have always kept up-to-date on the state of Genealogy programming and the programs available. I've looked at and tried and compared dozens of other programs and I maintain my Genealogical Program Links Page with links to them. I invite you to try out other programs and get a feeling for them.

The alpha test version is currently available. I have set a goal of March 2008 for the release of the beta test version, and will work towards a version 1.0 release date of June 2008. On my Behold Future Plans page, I list what I am working on and what I plan to do towards future versions.

Some people have physical limitations and can't to the exercise, others live in places where they can't choose their foods. Anything you can do will improve your situation. Often there are ways of modifying what you can do to gain similar or partial benefits. Do as much as you can.

Because of the size of the data used, and the limited amount of data users download of the total available data, it is unlikely that p2p would make much of a dent in the problem of serving that data.

WorldMaker's scenery editing capabilities were implemented on top of the version 7 X-Plane scenery engine. When we totally rewrote the engine for version 8, we had to remove WorldMaker's scenery editing capabilities. To edit X-Plane 7 scenery, use WorldMaker from X-Plane 7.63 (available for free download). You can use WorldMaker 8 to edit airport and nav data. The new scenery editor will be a separate program from WorldMaker.

That is the USGS Urban Area Imagery. USGS Urban is about .25m/pixel and only covers certain areas in the United States. These are the color images you may have seen. You can generally see cars with this layer. Note that it is only available for select cities, if you are not looking at the right place the images will be white. A list of available cities can be found at USGS Urban Areas.

I had a prototype for Behold in 1995. It produced a nice text-based Everything Report. But then technology started to change. Everyone wanted to use Windows and see graphical based reports. The user interface was the hardest thing to create and it was only about 1998 that good tools started coming out for this. Then in 1999, Windows 98 finally took hold and memory management was not an issue anymore. In 2001, good third party tools became available.

Behold is a fully-compliant 32-bit Windows program. It will run on Windows ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista. RAM is the major consideration. Behold loads the whole file and all its indexes into your computer's memory and needs lots of it. Currently on most computers, Behold can load files of 1,500 people very quickly. Files of up to 5,000 people can be loaded taking a bit longer, but it is still quite usable.

Currently, Behold can interpret the ANSEL and UTF-8 encodings in GEDCOM and you can specify the character set you want so that the characters display correctly. The disadvantage to this is only languages using the same character set can be displayed at the same time. In other words you can't mix Greek with Spanish, or Eastern European accents with Western European. But when Unicode is added to Behold, this will no longer be a problem.

Behold is the only program that lets you view and work with all your data at once. When Editing is enabled in version 2.0, Behold will be the only program that will let you enter, view, edit, and work with all your data at once. This will be a new technology for genealogists that will turn your hobby around. You will be able to enter your data many times faster than before, no longer slowed down by the cumbersome and inflexible fill-in-the-field forms of other programs.

You can add to Standard Operating Procedures and Support Programs before you submit the program to your council or download the program. If you have submitted your Food Safety Program to council, your local council Environmental Health Officer may request that you edit you Food Safety Program and re-submit.

To print out the various information in your students database, you would go to File, Export Student Data. From there you select the particular items and headers you wish to include under Custom Export. Save that file and then use any word processor to read the file. You will probably need to reset the files that the word processor will look at to All Files. Format the data to your taste and print.

Timex Trainer version 1.1 (and earlier) did not support editing of the Date, Time, Distance, or Duration data for activities recorded from heart rate monitor and GPS sensors. However, Timex Trainer version 1.2 and newer does support this capability. Upgrade to the latest version of Timex Trainer as described in the FAQ "How do I upgrade to the latest version of the Timex Trainer software?" if you need to edit recorded activities.

The data is now in one file that is about 15 Megabytes. This is smaller than the original data files VTK used and we hope that this size is not a problem for people anymore. If it is please let us know.

Collectively the data sets are around 4.6 Terabytes. As such they are not available as a full package for localized download. There are, however, several data sets available for download as cache packs.

Knoppix 5 supports write access for NTFS partitions using libntfs and fuse. While preliminary results show generally good stability and a low likelihood of data corruption on the NTFS partition, these libraries are still beta and there is risk of data loss and disk corruption (back up your data first). Knoppix (and the Linux kernel) can read NTFS partitions just fine, the danger is only present when attempting to write to it.

You can press the reset-view button at the top left corner of the application. This will change the view to best display all of the visible data. You can also press the "Set View to Data" button on the individual data objects "Display" pages. This will change the view to show the data in that individual data object.

Yes, the "Basic" and "Advanced" version support full data entry although some features may not be available depending on the original source of the data. For example, the TMG Research Log and Roles and Witnesses are viewable on the device but cannot be changed.

The IIDB allows 2 hours for a user to edit his or her posts for content, spelling, grammar, etc. After 2 hours, the post becomes a permanent record of your comments. Please do not petition Moderators or Administrators to edit your posts after the 2 hour limit expires; any changes or addendum after the post is closed to editing should be made as a separate post to the thread.

Well, not right away. I first need to develop the Windows version. But Windows emulation software is available that runs on a Mac. Behold should be able to run on a Mac under emulated Windows. For example check out Parallels or Guest PC (inexpensive) or Virtual PC for Mac (more expensive). My longer term plans are to convert Behold to .NET so it will ultimately be available on any platform, including Macs and Unix.

All the data is cached in the installation folder under the "Cache" directory. It's organized by the dataset. (See also: How are the tiles named?) You may have more luck reading up about the WMS protocol, and then interfacing with the same servers that WW connects to.

You're running an older version of Windows that doesn't include the Windows Installer. You need to download and install it before running the RoboGEO setup program.

The data formats between the old and new versions are totally different so the existing (old) data must be converted to the new formats during the installation. Please see Section 1 of the Getting Started Guide. If the old version is not installed on your computer, you don't need to install it to upgrade but you would need to point the data conversion program to the location of the existing data files or to a backup of the database. The same applies to conversion of the archived data.

If you don't have access to a shell/command line (usually the case with third party hosting services) then you may find you can use Martin Geisler's phpShell software to achieve the desired result (unless SAFE MODE is not set for php). Installation problems are sometimes weird and hard to diagnose.

The text was already outlined to vector paths in the PDF original. This means that it was no longer composed of characters but was converted into graphics that look like text by the source application. There is nothing that pdf2cad can do about this ? it can only reproduce the vectorized text in the DXF output. If the text is still "live" in the PDF file, pdf2cad can in most cases preserve it as searchable/editable text in the DXF file.

There are some know problems with Sundial in importing vCalendar/iCalendar data files that contain all day events. On Mac, you will get a pop up window saying "There are no valid entries to import" and no event gets imported. On PC, you will get a pop up window saying "An error occurred while processing the Entries. Do you wish to keep the # valid Entries found?" If you click "Yes", it imports the non-all-day events.
