The British Accreditation Council (BAC) is an independent body established in 1984 to act as UK's national accrediting agency for independent further and higher education. More than 100 colleges in the UK are accredited by the BAC. In 2000, BAC's remit was extended to provide the accreditation service to overseas institutions offering British higher education qualifications.

The Council on Higher Education (CHE) is responsible for quality assurance in higher education in South Africa. This responsibility is discharged through the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC). The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredits Doctor of Pharmacy programs offered by Colleges and Schools of Pharmacy in the United States and selected non-US sites. For a Doctor of Pharmacy program offered by a new College or School of Pharmacy, ACPE accreditation involves three steps: Precandidate status, Candidate status, and Full accreditation.

The Office of English Language Programs maintains a cooperative relationship worldwide with our colleagues from the United Kingdom. In many countries, the Office of English Language Programs/U.S. embassies and the British Council are joint sponsors of a wide variety of English language projects, such as national English teaching conferences.

This number is printed at the back of your library card) All individual members have access to British Council Online as part of their library membership. However access to BC Online only does not automatically make you a library member.

You can become a member by clicking on the 'Subscribe now' link on the home page of the portal. Before taking membership, you have the option of registering as a free trial member. You can pay online by using a credit card. When you select the Credit Card option, the system prompts you to enter your Credit Card number. After the payment details are approved, the system sends you a confirmation email informing you that the selected services have been activated for you.

If you are a new student and you want to register for a course you need to:come in person to the British Council within the registration period and to take a written placement test (20 minutes), followed by an 5-minute interview with one of our teachers. Tests start every half an hour. The teacher will recommend the most suitable course for you. The placement test is free of charge. If you want a place on one of the groups, you have to pay the course fee.

The British Council is an official organisation that, amongst other activities, offers a voluntary scheme for monitoring and assessing English language school in the UK. 'Accreditation' by the British Council means that a school has passed the tests of quality set by the British Council's English in Britain Accreditation Scheme.
