Graphics uses Helvetica, Times and Franklin Gothic Heavy ITC (used for headlines). Please note that Franklin Gothic Heavy ITC is not a system font. If you edit AP Graphics Freehand files you may substitute your own fonts.

The AP Graphics Database features hundreds of informative AP graphics including information graphics, diagrams, maps, charts, logos, and more. Originally created as part of AP's breaking news, sports, business or feature coverage, the graphics are now available for reference. The graphics databases date from January 1999 and are updated daily with approximately 20 graphics from the AP Graphics report. Graphics files are available in PDF formats.

If you have saved your file in native software format (other than a PDF or Postscript file), then we require all linked graphics and copies of any fonts used in your design. YES. Your document cannot be viewed properly or even worked with if you do not provide the fonts you used. Please try to refrain from using designer fonts, created by anyone and everyone who has a knack for typography. In most cases there is a registered font that it was copied from anyway. It's better to tell me what KIND of font you are looking to use, rather than using these less-than-perfect font sets. (KIND: script, bold, poster-type, sans serif, etc.)

While XFree86 does not, at the time of writing, natively support TrueType fonts, there is a number of third party solutions. Some information about these options is included below. Most likely we don't have them. We recommend converting all fonts to outlines (or curves) depending on the program used. This will make the fonts able to be printed without the actual font files. Unfortunately, not. Many of the graphics we use, we have only gotten very limited rights to. Others we are making fair use of the pictures but cannot know how you would use them so cannot assure you about your particular planned use as we know not what it is. Therefore treat the photos and other graphics in the collection the same way that you would on any copyrighted web site.

The blank images are in either .gif or .jpg format. This allows for modification in the widest range of graphics programs.

If the graphics/photos used on your site are provided by you or taken by us for use on your site, they remain your property. We will not nor cannot use them again for anyone else's site. However, if we use graphics/photos that were obtained via public access, then they remain public property, and as such, can be used by us for other sites.

With few exceptions, I make them. When you have been creating web graphics for ten years or more, you get pretty quick about it. The dripping spigot and the leaping fish-out-of-water are not mine.

When you create a document on your computer, the software is utilizing your version of fonts and your local images. There can be several different versions of each font which can cause your lines of text to re-wrap. Even Times (common as it is) has several different versions on the market, which makes it important for us to have the version that was used in the creation of your document. Adding your fonts can be a simple task, especially if you are using PageMaker or InDesign for your layout.

If Pro/ENGINEER displays briefly then disappears, text is missing from the windows or menus or if a font error message appears, check the font path for the required fonts using the unix command 'xset q' or 'xlsfonts'. If the initial Pro/ENGINEER banner page appears without text the issue is probably font related. Fonts can be added to the font path using the 'xset +fp' command on most unix platforms.

Make sure that in the PC Setup (BIOS) that your Parallel Port (LPTx) is set to a Standard Centronics/Parallel Port. If you don't have a selection for Standard make sure that you do NOT have it set to ECP or EPP. Our ports are standard Parallel/Centronics Ports. If you have any devices, such as a switch box or a software key in-between the printer and the PC, do the following: turn all of your equipment off, disconnect these devices, turn everything back on and then try again.

They are freeware. They were not created by us, but were obtained from various sources on the Internet that referred to them as freely distributable. They can be used freely for use in web pages and so on, but some of the authors of these graphics might not approve of seeing them used for commercial purposes (e.g. making them part of a commercial software package.)
