There is no formal relation between Fink and Debian. Fink is not a port of the Debian GNU/Linux distribution. We have ported Debian's package management tools (dpkg, dselect, apt-get) though, and use these tools and the .deb binary package format. The actual packages are tailor-made for Mac OS X / Darwin and don't use the Debian source package format.

Yes, as long as you are running Gentoo Linux on PPC hardware, you can use Mac-on-Linux which allows you to run an instance of OS 9, OS X or Linux as a process on Linux. Simply emerge mol to install this package. MOL supports Mac OS 7.5.2 to 9.2.2, as well as any version of OS X. It can be run from a console framebuffer or run in a window on X. Note: To run MOL fullscreen, you'll need to compile MOL with the fbcon use flag enabled and run it in a console framebuffer.

I am afraid that Apple's legal department does not want anyone distributing an Aqua scheme, so we will not post any such schemes on the Kaleidoscope Scheme Archive. Although Aqua schemes are probably available elsewhere on the web (please do not ask us for URLs), we ask that you respect Apple's right to control its intellectual property and not use these schemes with Kaleidoscope.

It is too early to say. We intend to make a version of Kaleidoscope for Mac OS X. However, unlike applications which can be Carbonized, low level hacks like Kaleidoscope need to be completely rewritten for Mac OS X.

Sort-of. Doing so will likely violate The Mac OS X End User License. QEMU does not emulate X86 Mac hardware, however some people have reported success hacking OS X to run on regular PC hardware (ie. qemu).

Alternatively Parallels is the mainstream proprietary software. Also works well, although is a RAM hog, especially with two guests. No. Not yet. In theory, you'd think, Perl is portable, wxPerl is portable, so just run it on any platform. The thing is that I've had to build in some Windows-specific things in pVoice, and I haven't had the time to try and find Linux-equivalents for it. I don't own a Mac, so I can't even begin to try to port it to that platform. If however, you are interested in a Linux or Mac version of pVoice and you know a bit about Perl, you're welcome to give it a shot yourself.

We already did some successful tests on Mac OS X and Linux, but through the nature of tv-player's direct hardware access to archive the best playback experience, it isn't that simple to port the core to a different operation system.

One of our goals for the 2.x series will be the ability to have Chattage run on Mac OS/X and Unix/Linux using the Mono library. We cannot promise that Chattage will be able to run on those platforms, or that if it does, it will be as fully-featured as the Windows version. As the xbox (as a pc) is a diffeent processor type to the Mac's (FYI; PowerPC) you'll need to use PearPC to emulate the PPC. You'll also need retail OSX install CD/DVD's too. This will be slow, at least 10x slower than the linux runs ATM, but cool. Show us some pics if you do.

Yes you can! In fact, yabootconfig will automatically detect and setup /etc/yaboot.conf with Linux, Mac OS X and even classic Mac OS (see the Gentoo Handbook for details on yabootconfig). The trick is in how you partition your hard drive. Before installing Gentoo, startup with the Mac OS X Install CD. Use the Disk Utility to partition the drive in your machine into two or three partitions.

The Mac OS X installer is asking for a username and password for an account on that computer that has administrator access. This proves that you have permission to install the software on that computer. This account is usually the account you use to log into that computer. If your computer is set up to log into an account automatically, you will need to know that password.

Debian GNU/Linux is a particular distribution of the Linux operating system, and numerous packages that run on it. In principle, users could obtain the Linux kernel via the Internet or from elsewhere, and compile it themselves. They could then obtain source code for many applications in the same way, compile the programs, then install them into their systems. For complicated programs, this process can be not only time-consuming but error-prone.

Debian developers communicate with other Linux distribution creators in an effort to maintain binary compatibility across Linux distributions. Most commercial Linux products run as well under Debian as they do on the system upon which they were built. Debian GNU/Linux adheres to the Linux Filesystem Hierarchy Standard. The keyboard locale may change after sending a message based on the capabilites of the font being used. If the message font that you are using does not natively support the active keyboard locale, the keyboard locale will reset to the default locale for the font. The solution to the locale changing when you send a message is to select a different message font that supports the keyboard locale that you are using.

The Inform compiler for OS X must be run through the Unix Terminal utility. If you double-click on its icon from a Finder window, nothing much happens: a Terminal window opens and runs the compiler without parameters, which triggers a "basic usage" message and ends up by stating that no compilation was requested.
