When temping out the engine of your Nitro car, you are looking for the highest current reading. That highest reading is typically going to come from your glow plug, and you can usually hit it from right over the top of your engine. Hold the "measure" button down on your PE Temp Gun, and pass it over the top of the engine. Get right up on the engine, so that you are just about touching the head.

Track temps can vary quite a bit when you are racing outdoors. Tracks can really suck up the sunshine and get blazing hot. When you shoot a track with your PE Temp Gun, you are better able to manage your tire situation and get the most out of your car and race. Consider shooting shaded and open areas of the track to get a whole track feel, and be sure to follow up as the day wears on.

Temping out your tires with the PE Temp Gun is pretty easy. Get an inch or two away from your tire, point, and shoot. Read the temp. Done.

We have found many of the times it is not the size that counts so much it is the placement of the bullet which is far more important. You want a heat gun with at least two settings, a high and a low. The high should be in the neighbourhood of 1500 watts. You will use that setting to get the beans up to, and part way through, 1st crack. The lower setting is useful when if you want to prolong the time between 1st and 2nd. I paid $34 CAD for my heat gun. I think it's just plain silly to spend big bucks on one, unless you are planning on using it to strip paint off wood, too.

The best all round gun for most varmint hunting I would say is the .223 in a good bolt action or auto. It's good for 350 yard shots or further and will put most varmints to sleep easily. For longer ranges, the .243 with 75-87 gr. bullets is hard to beat Back

For fox and coyotes, any thing in a center fire .22 caliber. The 17 HMR rimfire is good for fox out to 200 yards. I don't recommend the .22 LR. Back

Granted, there are some guns that are better than others (Marui, Classic Army), however, the 'best' gun will depend on your playing style and your personal likes and dislikes. Some guns are more suited for close quarters combat (P90, MP5's), while other guns are designed for mid to long range engagements (M4's, AK's, AUG's).
