Post Thrombotic Syndrome (PTS) is a collection of subjective complaints and clinical signs following a thrombotic episode. PTS manifests itself with clinical signs of swelling, dilation of the veins around the ankle bones, pigment changes in the skin of the lower leg along with subjective complaints of spontaneous calf pain and/or pain with standing/walking. The syndrome can present with symptoms ranging from mild severity to excruciating or incapacitating pain and swelling.

A7. NPC will phase in PTS request submission requirements as the program is implemented. The initial submission requirements will be for a period of 12 months prior to the EAOS. When fully implemented, a Sailor can submit a reenlistment request as early as 15 months prior to EAOS. A8. Yes. The request would be approved to reenlist in a different rating pending conversion to an undermanned rating. Request would be denied due to unavailability of quotas. In this case, after the final review of the Sailors request, he/she will be encouraged to look at the Selected Reserves if they wish to continue their Naval service. A13. The Sailor's application will continue to be processed up until 6 months prior to EAOS.

A14. Members who submit there request 6 months or less from EAOS will receive only one review. In the case of a member who submits their request 1 month prior to EAOS, that member is authorized a one time extension (by the commanding officer) for 2 months to await PTS results

A15. Request status will be sent to the command retention team (CO, XO, CMC, CCC) via monthly message. Messages will be released by the 14th of each month. The status of a command's PTS applications will be provided NLT 30 days following submission of the request. Command retention team members must be proactive and exercise vigilance in providing status to their Sailors as soon as they receive the monthly message.

A25. The series of PTS Implementation NAVADMIN's will outline specific requirements for submission. The best time for Sailors to submit their PTS request will be at 15 months prior to EAOS, NLT than 12 months prior to EAOS to allow for maximum number of reviews. A26. No. Members must have a PTS reservation prior to negotiating orders with detailers if those orders would require obligated service beyond EAOS. A27. No.

A31. First-term extensions may be authorized in the following cases, provided the extension does not carry the Sailor to six or more years of service: A32.
