Graduate students have many opportunities for research here at UCF. Faculty members who do funded research enlist graduate assistants to help them out. Also, students work and do internships at many labs and companies that are affiliated with the school. See questions regarding work and internships.

Getting students involved in research opportunities is a major priority in the School of Communication. Currently, students can do research for course credit through independent studies--arranged between you and a professor of your choice; research practica, which teach you how to code and analyze data; research seminars, for group research projects; or writing a senior honors thesis, a year-long individual research project of your choice.

More than 75 different volunteer opportunities are available at Luther Manor's Wauwatosa campus, Lakefield Adult Day Center, and Luther Manor at River Oaks. Click on the link above to go the volunteer page and read about some of the opportunities currently available.

Winthrop continues to train students and cultivate their leadership skills. The Emerging Leaders Program, coordinated by the Department of Student Affairs, offers structured programs and workshops that emphasize leadership and life skills. Peer Mentors, upperclassmen who team-teach the freshman seminar Academy 101 Principles of the Learning Academy, is one opportunity students have to demonstrate their abilities.

We intend to open 40-50 new stores across the country over the next few years. In addition, there will be opportunities resulting from normal attrition, i.e. Associate-Owners retiring, changing locations, or accepting positions within our Corporate or regional offices.

There are MANY scholarships available to students. Some scholarships are sponsored by independent organizations, while others are supported by universities. You should contact the colleges you are considering to obtain a list of scholarships they offer and an application. You should also check with your guidance counselor and local organizations to discover scholarship opportunities in your area.

Partner with a faculty member to research a topic of interest to you (outside of your major is OK!). Present your research at Discovery Day. Apply to become a Magellan Scholar and receive up to $3,000 to fund your research project in collaboration with a faculty mentor.

A variety of research is available at the Oakland campus. Each resident can spend four weeks each year on pursuing this interest. Residents complete a research project/case report or other scholarly project. These projects include case reports as well as research with other residents and faculty investigators. In recognition of the importance of research in medicine, categorical residents are encouraged to participate in a research project of their choice during the three-year training cycle. While in the program, residents gain a better understanding of research methodology and enhance their ability to critically analyze medical literature. Residents attend lectures regarding medical epidemiology/biostatics and are given a research manual that guides them through the various stages of research.

All residents are required to participate in scholarly activity. The outcome of this project is presented twice a year. Residents have traveled both regionally and nationally to present their projects.

Georgetown, there are plenty of opportunities to conduct independent research or assist in various labs with faculty or with researchers at the Georgetown University Medical Center. NHS just completed construction of its own state-of-the-art Discovery Center, which provides undergraduate students many opportunities to work with current faculty.

Teachers in Baltimore County have many professional development opportunities involving instructional technology. Baltimore County Public Schools has established a Technology Cohort Program with The Johns Hopkins University. Contact Thea Jones for more information. The Technology Integration Institute is designed to teach teachers how to design lessons that integrate the use of instructional technology into daily instruction.

Members have the opportunity to apply for scholarships, loans, and awards through SAI Nationals & SAI Philanthropies, Inc. They also have the priviledge of working with distinguished musicians who are practicing their art. SAI also offers an extensive network of contacts in not only music, but also virtually every other field. Beta Eta members are offered an automatic local network of sisters, performance opportunities, and many opportunities to volunteer.

All residents are expected to conceive of or become involved in a basic or clinical science research project during their residency, either working with a full-time faculty member from our department, or, in some cases with one of many excellent researchers at Case Western Reserve University. Four months of protected time are provided during the PGY-3 year during which no other clinical responsibilities, other than night call, are assigned to the resident for work on the project.

Residents may choose to engage in basic, translational or clinical research depending on the level of their interest, research background, and time availability. Research is encouraged but not required. Most residents end up working on at least one project which forms the basis for a “senior year talk”. Many residents also present at the USCAP meeting each year.

Yes, there are opportunities for undergraduates to engage in research projects under the guidance of mathematics faculty. Many of our faculty have web pages describing their current research interests. See our faculty directory for a general overview of who is interested in what. If you are interested in pursing a particular area of research, you should contact one of our advisors or the faculty member who specializes in that area.

Ask what the faculty’s current research areas are, what research graduate students have worked on in the past, and what opportunities might be available in the next year or two. St. Catherine’s Centers of Excellence also may provide research opportunities.

outlined in the previous section, Norwalk Hospital has an intense commitment to scholarly activity. Residents are currently active in studying the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, sleep affecting resident performance, obesity assessment and management, anemia evaluation, pneumonia outcomes, and others. Many opportunities exist to join projects underway; however, there is more than enough help here at Norwalk to start your own!
