It depends on how much time you have available outside of class. A general rule of thumb is that for every hour of class time, you will need to dedicate 3 hours of time outside the classroom. That depends on how well you do on the placement exam. The better you do, the fewer you need to take. The requirement is a 300-level class. You might place directly into that level, and you would complete the requirement in only one semester. However, if you place in 103, you will be required to take four semesters of a foreign language.

There will be nearly the same amount of classroom time in a quarter as was possible in a 14-week semester. Individual classes, which typically run for two-and-a-half hours now, will be extended to three-hour sessions, meeting from 6:15 to 9:15 p.m.

On-campus housing is provided for enrolled students. If for some reason you are not taking classes for one quarter within your housing contract this must be addressed as soon as possible (at least 30 days prior to the quarter concerned). After reviewing your circumstance(s), you will be informed by the HBU Housing office of the decision reached.

You may enroll in classes at another institution but a final transcript must be received by the Wednesday of finals week indicating a “C-” or better in all courses taken in order to graduate for that specific quarter. If the transcript is not received in time to confirm graduation you may participate in the ceremony but you will not receive your diploma. If the transcript is received by the 2nd Friday of the next quarter, your diploma will be granted.

If a student misses a quarter during his/her program, he/she must make sure that any classes for which he/she has been registered are officially dropped. This is to prevent holds from being placed on records due to non-payment of fees. Once a student misses the class scheduled for his/her cohort group, it is the student's responsibility to find an alternate location for the completion of this class.

Introductory biology classes that include content on human anatomical and physiological development (e.g. General Biology) or classes in human anatomy and physiology fulfill the biology requirement. You must have a grade of at least C-. Biology classes that focus on human evolution or genetics, or classes that are offered in disciplines other than biology (e.g. anthropology) do not have the required content on human physiological development and do not meet the requirement.

Any college statistics class, whether in education, psychology, health care or other field, fulfills this requirement. You must have a grade of at least C-. Research classes generally focus on design and methods of investigation and include only a brief review of descriptive statistics. Most of these courses do not have enough statistics to prepare you for graduate-level research methods and do not fulfill the statistics requirement.

A full-time student is one taking a minimum of 12 units per quarter. Fifteen units is considered an average load for a full-time student. A load of 19 units per quarter is considered maximum. You will not be able to enroll on-line beyond the 19-unit limit. In order to take more than 19 units per quarter, approval must be obtained from the your counselor.

You are advised to take a lighter credit load during summer due to the concentrated nature of study. The maximum credit load is 18. Special permission from the Registrar is required to take additional credits.
