You certainly can! Some of our customers have cleverly installed "quad" mounts — a pair on the handlebars and an opposing pair astride the passenger seat. Each pair of Rumble Road™ Premium speakers draws 5 amps peak from the battery.

Many of our customers mount Rumble Road™ speakers just inside the windshield, on the handlebars. As a guideline, allow for the 3" depth of the speaker enclosures, which are approximately 4.75" in diameter, and a standard 3/8" mounting bolt. By turning the mounting clamp opening so that it faces the seat versus the windshield, you can typically gain an additional two inches of clearance. Clamps of various sizes are available on our accessories page.

Rumble Road™ speakers can be wired either directly to a 12-volt battery, through a user-supplied switch and fuse, or to another switched and fused 12-volt source on your bike. Most of our customers wire the speakers to an existing 12-volt accessory line, headlight power line or other switched accessory on their bike, based on the generalized instructions provided in our installation manual.

Rumble Road™ speakers are water-resistant but not waterproof. The speakers feature injected plastic cone material and are sealed tightly within the spotlight enclosure with heavy rubber washers. The tight mesh of the stainless steel grille covers also helps keep the system dry. MHI has conducted extensive, successful tests for water resistance, and customers have not reported any weather-related malfunctions. MHI gives you the option to order either way.

Based on the successful Rumble Road™ Premium amplified speaker system, the non-amplified Limited speakers are easily installed on handlebars, spotlight mounting bars, luggage bars, forks or crashbars.

The powder-coating process creates insulation properties that could restrict the flow of power to your Rumble Road™ speakers. MHI encloses ring lugs with each boxed pair of black speakers. To ground the speakers properly, insert one of the two ring lugs supplied on the uncoated mounting stem of each speaker, and ensure that the wire is attached to a solid ground.

Thoroughly wash and clean the old battery, battery terminals and case or tray with warm water to minimize problems from acid or corrosion. Heavy corrosion can be neutralized with a mixture of one pound of baking soda to one gallon of warm water. Wear safety goggles and, using a stiff brush, brush away from yourself. Also, mark the cables so you do not forget which one to reconnect. Turn off all electrical switches in the vehicle and shut off the ignition switch. Disable any alarm systems.

Generally, any bike- a road bike, a mountain bike, a hybrid- can be used in a triathlon. In fact, some courses (many turns, lot's of climbs and descents, are slightly better suited for a classic road bike. However, the bike-leg of a triathlon is basically a time trial. You want to go as fast as you can, using as little energy as possible. A triathlon frame has slightly different geometry.

Yes! Brand-new for 2006 is our new line of battery-operated LED light strings. They work on (3) AA batteries. Regular alkaline copper top Duracell batteries will operate the lights for over 100 hours (we've actually tested this ourselves on a blue set), and we expect that other good batteries should perform similarly. Red and amber LEDs will probably run longer, green probably about the same, and white somewhat shorter. High-quality rechargeables will only last a day before needing recharging.

To ensure as consistent a look as possible, MHI completes the black Rumble Road™ kit with matching black clamps and nuts. In addition, two of the four supplied washers are black. The built-in threaded mounting stem is uncoated metal and is not conducive to powder-coating; the uncoated stem is used to ground the black speakers.

With the 96-train schedule, Caltrain had no choice but to use the gallery car sets on the additional express train runs. This is a prospect that is not without risk. The risk is to schedule reliability (on-time performance). Since the original launch of Baby Bullets in June 2004, Caltrain has maintained an on-time performance of about 95%. It is always advisable that when you start triathlon, you should buy a road bike first. It handles better and it is more comfortable. You will always need a road bike even if you buy a tri bike later on. If you decide that you enjoy triathlon and want to continue in the sport, then buy a tri bike (and keep your road bike). Road bikes are better to ride in groups and train with.

We see more and more hybrids every year. My personal opinion is that BRAG is easier if you use a road bike with skinny tires because it has less road resistance. And road bikes tend to be lighter weight than fat-tire bikes. Those with mountain bikes may want to put slicks on their bikes. You will never ride alone on BRAG. There will always be someone riding at or near your pace.

No. Some outdoor 333M or 400M tracks are shallow and wide enough to let road bikes ride on them for beginners. The Burnaby Velodrome is a track-bike-only track. Luckily, we do have rental bikes to use and first timer Learn to Ride programs...

Yes, we have a selection of Titanium framed bikes from Merlin, Litespeed and Airborne. These are set up with Campagnolo groupset and triple rings. We have sizes 50, 52,54,56 and 58 cm and have stock of a variety lengths of stems. Pedals are not supplied with bikes so best to bring your own if you use a clipless system and most customers bring their own saddles

Yes, no problem, although they are usually heavier than a road bike, so hence harder work uphill. You will find the ride improved by fitting slick (road) tyres on your mountain bike however. Another area that would benefit you is to buy some pedals that you clip in to. We can offer advice here if need be. More expensive bikes benefit from being lighter, which means they are easier to ride uphill, but ultimately it doesn't matter how expensive a bike is, as long as it's well maintained.

Quad bikes are designed for off-road use only. They have special low pressure tyres which are not road legal. Most bikes have a fixed back axle, which makes them unsuitable for cornering on hard surfaces. The factory supplied lighting kits do not conform with the Road Traffic Act. From a comfort and vehicle safety standpoint, the ATV must meet certain vehicle harmonic requirements. The answer, therefore, is no .... in almost all circumstances.

Speakers may be one of the simpler installations that takes place but can have its complexities. Angled screwdrivers, panel poppers and other automotive tools are required to remove dash or door panels. Another tricky part of a speaker installation is ensuring that the new speakers are installed in phase. Out of phase speakers will have no bass response and poor imaging. Typically, a speaker installation is relatively inexpensive.

This event is most similar to a road time trial. It has a mass start (with flying dust, mud, and more often than not bodies) but quickly becomes a single line of riders attempting to pass each other on the single track, and the leaders are the ones who have high fitness and bike handling skills to match.
