The Half Dome cables usually are installed by the weekend before Memorial Day weekend, but this can vary depending on conditions and trail crew availability. The cables usually remain up through Columbus Day (in October). The National Park Service strongly discourages hikers from attempting the cable route when the cables are down. The cables that come with the system carry only low voltage AC and usually no permits are required. Check with your local electrician to find out exactly what the requirement are for your area. If you decide to install the transformer box that comes with the system outdoors you are required to get a permit to run 110V AC. Again, contact you local electrician to find out about 110V AC requirements. For this reason we recommend that the transformer part of your system be located indoors.

Pacific Domes are designed with ventilation in mind. The roof, door, round windows, and portions of the sidewalls can be replaced with screens. If your environment doesn’t allow for screens, due to excessive rain fall, we recommend using a solar fan to aid in ventilation.

The most common method of heating is by wood stove, but any modern heating method will work in a dome. Radiant heat, solar, electric, and gas are all compatible with our domes.

The domes are designed with several window screens, base screens, and a roof screen. This ventilates the dome well, helping to keep it cool. For extremely warm and wet environments, we offer information on solar fans. Traditional Air Conditioning units may be installed as well.

Always go one size or ½ size larger. You can always use an insert to make a large shoe fit a bit more snug. A small shoe can be very uncomfortable and even cause permanent damage to your feet. Ouch!

My guideline for speaker cables is to keep their resistance to less than 0.1 ohm for the roundtrip path of the current.
