It will take 4 semesters to earn an associate degree if you average 16 credits per semester. It will take 6 semesters if you average 12 credits per semester.

The Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degree are designed primarily for students intending to transfer to a four-year institution.

AA/AS Degree is a two-year degree (based on 4 semesters of 15 units each) that consists of specific groups of classes. You need approximately 30 semester units of General Education, 18-20 semester units of Major Requirements and other courses or electives to add up to a minimum of 60 semester units. You must also complete these courses with a 2.0 ("C") cumulative grade point average or higher.

Each degree is broken down into six areas of requirements. The degree requirements are the same for both degrees in the following areas: Composition, Humanities/Fine Arts and the Social/Behavioral Sciences. The differences are found in the Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Elective areas. The Associate of Arts provides the student with a variety of sciences to choose from, in no particular order.

It depends on what major you plan to pursue at the four year college level. The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees are the same, except for the Math, Science and Elective requirements. The Associate of Arts is right for you if you are planning for a four year degree in the following areas: Humanities, Social or Behavioral Sciences, Arts or Nursing (BSN).

The length of time it may take you to receive a degree depends on your chosen area of study and the number of units taken each semester. Some students graduate in fours semesters, others several years.

The Associate in Arts degree is a general degree in the liberal arts; it does not have a specific major attached to it. Upon completion of the Associate in Arts degree, students can choose to continue toward a bachelor's degree in a specific major. (And actually, UD does not list majors on ANY diploma, even for four-year degrees. Only the name of the degree is listed - Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, etc.).

A.A.S. degree program is an occupational program of study designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of high-tech or mid-management fields of study with in the business, health, technical or industrial occupations. The Associate of Applied Science is a minimum of 60 credit hours.

Some students elect to earn a second associate degree at TMCC, because they want an AAS in law enforcement and an AA in criminal justice or an AAS in investigations and an AA in business. Dual degrees may be earned subsequently or simultaneously and require 15 credits beyond the first degree for a total of at least 75 credits with 30 credits earned in residence at TMCC.

The answer is a resounding “YES!” Transfer students who plan ahead with careful choices in classes can attain some AA degrees with very few additional units.

Yes. Any student who is enrolled in a two-year technical program has the opportunity to earn the Associate of Applied Science degree. NEKTC currently has a scholarship program with Highland Community College that makes earning an AAS degree financially feasible. Please contact an Admissions representative for more information.

The A.A. degree is designed specifically for students who wish to transfer to a four-year college or university. Students accepted into the A.A. degree program attend classes once per week from 6 to 10 p.m., 6 to 8 p.m. or 8 to 10 p.m., with short vacation breaks twice per year. Most course sessions last eight or nine weeks.

California colleges and universities do not require an AA to transfer, unless a student intends to compete in athletics (NCAA) at the college or university. The AA Degree is a nice addition to your r?sum?!

The Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree is a Board-approved collegiate degree program consisting of lower-division courses intended for transfer to baccalaureate programs that lead to initial Texas teacher certification. There are three AAT curricula which include 60-66 semester credit (SCH) hours of coursework.

The answer to this question varies from student to student. It all depends on how many credits you transfer into your degree program and the pace of study you choose. Our classes are offered in both 8- and 16-week semesters, so you can choose the pace that best meets your needs. For example, a student who successfully completes 2 courses every 8 weeks for a year can earn 36 credit hours in a year, but a student who takes the same courses over 16 weeks will earn 18 credit hours.

It depends on you and how much time you have available to commit to your education each week. Our experience indicates that if you matriculate (enroll) with about 45 credits, you can finish your associate degree (60 semester credits) in less than a year. If you matriculate with about 90 credits, you can finish your bachelor’s degree (120 semester credits) in 1-2 years. Graduations occur every two months. I have a bachelor's degree (B.S.) in agriculture and a master's (M.S.) degree in Plant Science from West Texas State University (now known as West Texas A&M University, where I now teach). We highly recommend that you complete your associate degree if you are near completion. If you have earned either an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, or both degrees, or approved for the Associate in Arts and Science or A.S. programs in general studies from a Virginia community college or Richard Bland College, you will have junior standing and be exempt from some general education requirements. The A.A.S. in Human Services Generalist degree prepares students to enter the Human Services field with a multitude of skills, including the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to deliver professional services that assist clients with their bio-psychosocial growth. Students enroll in courses on the C.O.D. main campus in Glen Ellyn during the first year of study and at one of the C.O.D. Regional Centers during the second year.
