Yes. Just bring in whatever you have at the time of your Writing Center session, whether it is typewritten, handwritten, or electronic.

You can bring an electronic version of your paper to the Writing Center, but it is not necessary. You can bring in a typed copy of your paper, a handwritten draft, or you can save your work to a disk (floppy-3.5, zip disk, CD-Rom, FTP). Also, each student has 800 MB of storage available on the CBU server, where you can save an electronic version of your paper.

A If you have an assignment sheet or notes about the assignment, bring them to your session. Depending on how far along you are in the your writing you might bring notes or ideas, a first draft, an outline, or whatever you have completed before your appointment. The Writing Fellow will help you determine which step you can work on next. If you are bringing a draft of your paper, please have it typed rather than written in longhand.

Writers bring papers from courses in biology, political science, communications, engineering and many other courses besides English. You can come in to work on essays, research papers, Master's theses, dissertations, technical writing, poetry, fiction or any other writing project from your academic or personal life.

A3: One of our primary goals at the Boise State Writing Center is to provide an active working environment where both the consultant and writer engage in a conversation about writing. We serve not as editors, but as careful, interested readers. As readers, we ask questions about the paper, discuss suggestions for revision, talk about mechanics, and help identify errors. No. We help writers seeking to improve their own skills. We will not edit or proofread a paper for you, but we're always happy to answer specific grammar and style questions that will enable you to edit your own work.

The Writing Center is a place where you can meet with a trained writing consultant to talk about any university-related writing project. Your consultant will answer questions, provide feedback, and coach you through any stage of your writing process from brainstorming to final editing.

Yes, you may bring your creative writing to us; however, since it is not official course work, we must assist those bringing in official course work first.

Writing, by far. Nothing compares with the pleasure of creating your own characters, your own worlds. It's the best feeling in the world, at least when it's going well. But that said, there is a particular joy in putting together a book of wonderful work by other people, and getting to share that with the world. It's a privilege and a delight, sort of like finding the perfect birthday gift for your difficult-to-please sweetheart.

The WC's response will not be instantaneous. The tutors will usually respond within 1-4 days, but if they are extremely overwhelmed with postings, you may have to wait longer. As long as you send your assignment to them by the due date listed in your syllabus, you will get credit for the assignment. Please note that the COW deletes all messages on a bi-monthly basis, so you must check the site frequently for a tutor's response to your message.
