Students may take up to four units of credit (usually equivalent to four courses) per quarter. International students usually need to take at least three units of credit per quarter.

Unless you have received permission to be a part time student, it is expected that all business students will enroll in a minimum of twelve units or three courses each quarter. The average courseload is 16 units or four courses each quarter.

Quarterly course load is an individual consideration based on a student’s personal and work schedule, as well as the amount of financial resources they can comfortably afford to apply to their tuition each quarter. No, the business program is very flexible in that students can choose how many classes they wish to take per quarter, and if necessary may take one or more quarters off without penalty.

It depends on how much time you have available outside of class. A general rule of thumb is that for every hour of class time, you will need to dedicate 3 hours of time outside the classroom. If you take a 3 unit class, this would amount to 9 hours outside of the classroom each week. If you are working full-time, we recommend that you start off taking one class your first quarter. Most students who are working full-time will take 2 courses per quarter.

Since this is a technical school learning equipment and technology, you’ll need to physically be here. IPR offers a great opportunity for hands-on learning at a fantastic facility. Your classes will go straight through until your program is complete, with no quarter skipping.

It is crucial to have all math credits from any previous institution evaluated long before you come to orientation. Many of the PAES majors require high levels of math, which are key to timely planning of your academic career.

Departments have established roadmaps for each concentration. Roadmaps are important because some classes may not be offered every quarter. If you are graduating, and need a course, meet with the Department Chair of your concentration. Occasionally course substitutions are allowed to meet concentration requirements.

There will be nearly the same amount of classroom time in a quarter as was possible in a 14-week semester. Individual classes, which typically run for two-and-a-half hours now, will be extended to three-hour sessions, meeting from 6:15 to 9:15 p.m.

On-campus housing is provided for enrolled students. If for some reason you are not taking classes for one quarter within your housing contract this must be addressed as soon as possible (at least 30 days prior to the quarter concerned). After reviewing your circumstance(s), you will be informed by the HBU Housing office of the decision reached.

You may enroll in classes at another institution but a final transcript must be received by the Wednesday of finals week indicating a “C-” or better in all courses taken in order to graduate for that specific quarter. If the transcript is not received in time to confirm graduation you may participate in the ceremony but you will not receive your diploma. If the transcript is received by the 2nd Friday of the next quarter, your diploma will be granted.

Transfer students must first send an unofficial copy of their transcripts to the engineering advising staff. This is in addition to the official transcript you had your college/s send to the UCSC Admissions Office. The staff will evaluate what credit you will get toward the major and contact you about what classes you should be taking in your first quarter on campus. You cannot enroll in any courses for the major on campus until this has been done.

The best place to start is your Degree Progress Report, found on URSA Online, which lets you see what requirements you still need to fulfill. This is called a "withdrawal". If students have an emergency situation (hospitalization, death in family, etc.) where they know they will not be able to finish up their classes or will not be able to catch up in their coursework, students have the option of dropping all of their classes for the quarter if they are in good academic standing. A student may withdraw at any time during the quarter PRIOR TO TAKING THE FINAL EXAMS.

CRP students can pre-register for classes at the same time regular RIT students pre-register. In most cases, students can only pre-register for liberal arts/general education courses. Students may have to wait until their Change of Program application is accepted to register for courses specific to their program. Changes/additions to your schedule can be done through Add/Drop into the next quarter. We advise you to work with an advisor from the academic department.

No. Our college's vacation time and the high school's vacation time, does not usually occur at the same time. If you are planning a family vacation during your son/daughter's high school's vacation time, this may not be the quarter for your son/daughter to take Running Start. Our courses only run 11 weeks. It is very difficult to make up the material missed in a week of lectures and discussions.

Discussion sections will not meet before the first day of class. At the first class, the instructor should announce when discussion sections will be held. If it is not announced, assume it will be the first scheduled day after the first day of class. All students are encouraged to meet with their advisor sometime during week 4, 5 and 6 of the quarter.

You will be held to the classes. You will not be able to graduate without the correct GE classes. So you might as well bite the bullet and take them now with your friends.

Refunds for the Telecom Fee will be handled the same way they are for house dues. The fee won't be prorated - rather, you will get a full credit if you move out before a certain point, and no credit after that. Currently, refunds are approved for housing contracts ending before the fifth Saturday of the quarter. The refund will happen automatically when you get refunded for room & board.
