Admissions decisions are based on the the applicant's full spectrum of credentials. This includes standardized test scores, as well as previous academic performance, rigor of previous academic programs and institutions, recommendations, career and volunteer experience, and commitment to one's chosen field. We have found that at the master's level, undergraduate grades are the best predictor of graduate academic success.

All aspects of your application are considered. For instance, high GPA or superior letters of recommendation, excellent statement of purpose, etc., could possibly outweigh low GRE scores. Applicants might consider retaking the GRE test.

Your junior/senior major GPA should be above a 3.0; however, if there are extenuating circumstances for a lower GPA, you may still be considered for admission. Please address those issues in your personal statement. The GREs are only one of the factors we consider, so again, if there are extenuating circumstances, use your personal statement to address this issue.

If you're taking the TOEFL CBT the minimum score is 250. If it is available in your country and you are taking the TOEFL IBT, then the minimum score is a total of 80 points, with a minimum of 23 on the Speaking section. Individual departments may require higher scores. The IBT minimums are subject to change as we gain more experience on what these scores actually mean in terms of proficiency.

The clinical psychology program has established no firm “cut-off” scores—other than the minimum grade point average required by the university—for admission to the program. All applications are evaluated individually on a case-by-case basis. However, our program receives applications from more individuals than we have the resources to admit. Generally this program is highly customized in advanced strategic communication. Students will be expected to take all courses totaling 33 credits in a structured schedule and program.

While you may choose to submit your scores only to the admitting institution (currently UNCG), we would prefer if you submitted your scores to both Graduate Schools.
