Yes, your team captain is responsible for maintaining a talent release for actors and a filmmaker release for anyone who helps in producing the film. You can download these forms and keep them for your records. If your film is one of the 25 finalists your team captain will be asked to submit these two release forms in order to be considered for the grand prize.

Many CastNet actors will consider roles in student films. As their involvement will be made on a charitable basis they will expect to have their expenses paid, accommodation and meals provided, an edited version of the film and to be treated professionally and with respect at all times.

No. We do not expect any of our new students to have had previous experience in film or video. Most new students to the program are not familiar with filmmaking or editing equipment, thus the first semester of classes are designed to acquaint students with the filmmaking and editing process.

Yes indeed. Because we only sell the official licensed release, we carry only the DVD or VHS versions produced by the same studios that put the Anime on TV.

The list is too long to include here - and even if I tried, it would be quickly out of date. There are two sources I use to find out things like this. First, the Internet Movie Database (us.imdb.com in the USA; in other countries, www.imdb.com will point you to a "local" copy), which includes the cast lists for a large number of movies. The only problem with it is, the information comes from volunteers and is not necessarily entirely accurate.

European Television Standard European television conforms to the PAL (Phase Alternation by Line) standard, which runs at 25 frames (50 fields, or half-frames) per second. This is close enough to the film standard of 24 fps, that 24 fps films are often simply run at 25 fps, with possibly a bit of pitch-shifting on the soundtrack to make it sound less 'screechy.

Each show is cast by its director. Sometimes they hold auditions. To find out what's coming up read the Circa season pamphlets or ring the Box Office and inquire about forthcoming productions. Going to shows and getting to know people in the theatre is often a good idea, as they may be able to provide valuable inside information.

That varies widely depending on the kind of show or film using your music. Money is earned in two ways: the licensing fee, paid up front to the writer/artist, and the performance royalty, which is distributed to the writer by a performing rights organization ( ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC in the U.S.). No performance royalties are generated on theatrical showings of films in the U.S.A. (though they are paid in other countries), but when the film is aired on TV, you would make your performance money.

The studios do not actually make films. We supply facilities for film makers to do so. Therefore, we generally have no involvement in production staff, including runners. Please contact productions directly via post (see FAQ above). The television studios occasionally require runners for television productions that use the studios, but this is on a part time basis. They taught the actors pronunciations based on written, spoken, and videotaped guidance from (in alphabetical order) David Salo, Tom Shippey, and Bill Welden.
