It depends on different issues. The main important thing is that a light source owns an extension. The bigger the light source extension is the bigger is the penumbra of the created shadow. This property is adjustable in the existing tool. Other issues are the distances between the light source, occluder and receiver. Subdivision surfaces allow defining smooth surfaces with a very limited number of control points, i.e. a very rough base mesh that has a limited number of triangles.

When the engine warms up, check the exhaust, preferably while driving behind the car. Blue smoke indicates a weak engine while black indicates excessive unburnt fuel.
