The weight given to standardized admissions exams varies from program to program and discipline to discipline. If your exam score is not reflective of your academic accomplishments and capabilities, it is often a good idea to ask one of your faculty recommenders to address it in the letter. This can be particularly effective if you have taken advanced courses or done independent study with that professor.

Since UNCC students are no longer allowed to exclude credit, your only option in this situation is to take additional courses to raise your GPA. How many classes and the grades you will need to achieve will depend upon your particular circumstances. Because raising your GPA can be difficult and time consuming, IT IS BEST TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT GET INTO THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE. OBVIOUS ADVICE, BUT IMPORTANT.

Students have the option of retaking the GRE/MAT or pass a written essay. Students may schedule to write the essay with the Department Secretary. If the essay is not passed, a referral is made to the Gene Elrod Success Center for completion of the writing tutorial program. Upon completion, the essay is rewritten. If passed, and all other application requirements are adequate, the student is unconditionally admitted.

OSU requires a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in all previous undergraduate and graduate work for regular admission to graduate school. We require the general GRE exams; we do not require the GRE subject exam. (The average total GRE score for Statistics/Biostatistics students arriving with TA funding in autumn of 2001 was 1974; the median was 2020.

What we are most interested in is the applicant's research potential. These scores are just one of many criteria we consider. There are no minimum scores. We much prefer students who have taken challenging advanced courses to those with top scores on rudimentary courses. There are many ways for applicants to demonstrate their research potential.

We normally tell students they should be in the B+ range to be competitive. The admission process incorporates 1) overall GPA; 2) prerequisite GPA; and 3) GRE score. Each of these areas is weighted equally. Thereby, the applicant could remain in the competitive range if they were low in one area i.e. overall GPA and up in the other two. Historically, applicants with GRE scores below 900 are not competitive.

Because of the way we use GPA data, you really cannot improve your GPA without obtaining a graduate degree, or at least accumulating a large number of graduate hours with a good graduate GPA. If you do have a large number of graduate hours (e.g. 20+ hours), make sure we become aware of your successful efforts at graduate study. Since you may not be able to increase your GPA score, you will need to increase your scores in other areas (i.e. GRE and interview).

Your junior/senior major GPA should be above a 3.0; however, if there are extenuating circumstances for a lower GPA, you may still be considered for admission. Please address those issues in your personal statement. The GREs are only one of the factors we consider, so again, if there are extenuating circumstances, use your personal statement to address this issue.

The GRE scores and GPA are very important to gain admission to the ESPM graduate program. The average GRE scores for those we accepted in the program for Fall 2005 were: Verbal: 625/84%, Quantitative: 698/73%, and Analytical: 5.10 or 701/83%. The average GPA for those accepted was 3.60. The GPA is based on undergraduate course work done in the last two years, i.e. junior and senior status.

There are no minimum cut-off scores but admitted students are likely to have scores similar to other competitive programs in Rackham.

Usually, no, if your GPA is your only concern. When you retake a class at UMass, the Registrar's office recalculates your GPA to omit reference to your first grade. Law schools and the LSAC do not. They include every grade on your transcript in calculating your GPA. For students who retake classes, this often means that your LSAC-generated GPA is less than your UMass-generated GPA. Moreover, the law schools will look at your entire transcript, not just you GPA.

You need to be aware of a sobering reality: admission to a health professions school is a highly competitive process. This means, of course, that these schools will draw candidates from the high end of the GPA range. Consider these statistics. The most common GPA for applicants admitted to medical schools nationwide, for example, is 3.75. At Upstate Medical University, the median overall GPA for accepted applicants is around 3.65 (3.57 for the science GPA).

G.P.A. is Grade-Point Average - the average of all grades earned; weighted by the number of quarter credits each course is worth.

GPA: The School of Social Work requires a minimum 3.0 undergraduate gpa for regular admission. If an applicant has a 2.55-2.99, the applicant will be placed on admission probation. If the gpa is lower than a 3.0, the last 60 hours will be recalculated. Applicants with a cumulative and last 60 hours of a 2.54 or less will not be considered for admission. Admission to MCLS is highly competitive. However, every application is treated on a case-by-case basis. Thus, great strengths in certain areas may outweigh relative weaknesses in others. Since there is no fee required in the initial application process, we encourage all motivated and qualified students to initiate the application process.

There is no minimum GRE or GPA requirement. The Admissions Committee reviews each aspect of every application before coming to a decision.

We really cannot say based only on your GPA, GRE and (for international students) TOEFL scores what your chances of admission and a funding offer are. We look at the entire application, including your courses (and grades in them), your personal statement, and your letters of recommendation.

We see applications from students who have attended universities all over the world. Side-by-side comparisons are difficult and can be misleading. Most students applying to the IPS Program have a GPA above a 3.5 and GRE scores in the 90th percentile, but we do not evaluate applications solely on "the numbers." Instead, we examine the entire students profile, including career experience and objectives.

In general, we look for at least a B undergraduate average, but the overall record is of primary importance. Individual programs may be interested in how an applicant did in specific courses, whether the undergraduate background course work was adequate for the program, and whether the applicant showed a pattern of improvement during undergraduate study. There is no specific cut-off for the GRE.

Our department does not have a minimum score requirement for the GRE. In order to be admitted to OSU, the Graduate School requires international student applicants to achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (IBT), 213 (CBT) or 550 (PBT).

On the GRE, the minimum score required by the Graduate School is 850 (combined verbal and quantitative). The minimum undergraduate GPA required by the Graduate School is 2.6. The average GRE score for a Community Counseling graduate student is approximately 1100 and the average GPA is 3.5. With that said, a deficit in one area can be compensated by strength in another area.

In evaluating a student's application, we consider not only their GPR and GRE scores, but also the courses taken, letters of recommendation, and research experience and interests. On average, the students accepted into our program have an undergraduate GPA of greater than 3.2. Scores from each of the three sections of the GRE (verbal, quantitative, and analytical) are evaluated. Scores for students admitted should be above 500 on each section.

No. All applications are reviewed by at least one faculty member regardless of how low or high you score on the GRE or your GPA.

Consistent with the UNCG Graduate School we require a minimum GRE score of 500 on both the verbal and quantitative sections. We require a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates who have GRE scores and GPA below the minimum are evaluated on an individual basis and may require a provisional acceptance by the Graduate School if the ATEP Admissions Committee deems them an appropriate candidate for the program.

First we look at the applications on their individual merit. We look at all of the materials and try to arrive at an accurate portrait of the applicant that includes experience, the breadth of previous coursework and recommendations. We do see scores and GPAs in all ranges. In general, however, competitive GRE scores will be in the 600s for the verbal section, in the 600s for the quantitative section, and 5 or above (on a 6-point scale) for the writing section. Competitive GPAs will be 3.

Although the GRE scores and GPA are important to the admissions review process, we do not have a minimum required score. GRE or GMAT scores are evaluated in a manner which complies with House Bill 1641. Each student is reviewed using a variety of criteria including academic performance, leadership potential, work or life experience, personal statement, recommendation letters, extracurricular activities, and information gathered at the Interview Conference.

The Graduate School minimum GPA is 3.0 but we like to see at least a 3.25 in courses relevant to the area in which you apply. As for GRE scores, we don’t set absolute numbers because each year’s applicants are judged against all others in that year only. Given that our programs are very competitive and highly selective, you will want to be sure that you do the best you can on all areas of the Graduate Record Examination.
