If the program is frozen you will need to press Ctrl-Alt-Del. This will bring up the Task Manager, which will give you a list of all of the programs that are currently running. If the program is frozen it will probably have the text "Not Responding" beside it. Click on this program to highlight it, then select End Task. After a couple of seconds, the program should close.

The ball could be dirty and not making contact with the contacts inside the mouse. There is a little screw by the ball. Unscrewing the screw will allow the ball to come out. Clean the ball and try it again. If that didn't work, then you must re-adjust the two analog pots inside your mouse. Remove the cover (there are two other screws). There are many mouse alternatives available to individuals who do not "get along with" the traditional computer mouse. MouseKeys, a feature that is available on virtually every computer, lets the user set up the numeric keypad on the keyboard as a way to control the cursor. If an individual can use a keyboard, he can use MouseKeys to run the mouse. The MouseKeys utility is free since it is built into the Macintosh and Windows computer system software.

After you plug in your external serial mouse, you have to go to CONTROL PANEL, run the ADD NEW HARDWARE WIZARD. After doing so, your computer should find your serial mouse and install the Standard Serial Mouse driver for it.

If you have a Logitech mouse, there is an easy way around this problem. When you bought the mouse, you most likely received a disk with drivers and utilities for it. Load up the Windows Mouse Control Center (wmousecc.exe), and assign one of the available keys into the third button (Enter, Backspace, etc). There are several potential problems. It could be a permissions problem (see above). It is possible that your server will not allow normal http access to images in your cgi-bin folder.
