To graduate from the Programme you must be competent in a language other than English. Many of our students understand several languages when they enter the Programme and do not need to study another language - although an increasing number choose to study another language. If you need to develop your language skills you can join one of the language electives taught at London Business School. Of course! Vesalius College offers instruction in French and Dutch. Since course level assignments are different for language courses in different countries, Vesalius College requires that any student wishing to register for a French or Dutch course that is not at the elementary level (no prior knowledge of the language) must take a written and oral language placement test during orientation week (week preceding the first week of classes).

No. The language of instruction for all courses offered by Vesalius College (except for the French Literature course) is English. Furthermore, although both French and Dutch are spoken in Brussels, English is spoken by the majority of its residents and is the de facto language used by most professional organizations. Studying in Brussels is, however, a prime opportunity for students to study French or Dutch and to become immersed in the language and Belgian culture.

Some studies have an open-label extension, which is an extension to the main study, but offers the participants the un-blinded active study medication. Other studies do not have an open-label extension, so the participant will no longer receive study medication at the end of their participation.

There is a foreign language requirement for the associate of arts degrees, but not for the associate of applied science degrees. The bachelor's degree in criminal justice at UNR also requires a foreign language.

Study abroad is not limited to language majors or those with knowledge of foreign languages; Duke sponsors and has identified programs providing language training as well as programs taught in English in many countries. Programs are available offering courses in humanities, social sciences, and sometimes science and engineering.

Knowing a foreign language is not a prerequisite for study abroad. There are many opportunities to study in English-speaking countries. You can also take courses in English in many non-English-speaking countries – like business or journalism courses in Italy or marine science courses in Denmark.

There is no best language, or even easiest; your personal motivation dictates what you should study (back to the Hesse/salsa reasons, among others.) You should study a language because you want to use it. But if, when you get home, nobody you know speaks Urdu, it might be a challenge to keep the skills you've learned fresh. Sometimes, however, an exotic language can be like a gift to yourself, not some utilitarian "Donde esta el bano?", but a language studied purely for it's beauty and challenge.

We think that exchange trips work very well when they are the product of strong links between two schools in different countries, based on a long tradition of exchange programmes or possibly a town’s twinning arrangements. This is one area, however, where we feel that for Cactus to act as an intermediary would dilute not intensify the working arrangements.
