Players have to have appeared in a match within the qualifying period to appear in the lists (normally 12-15 months for Tests, 6-12 months for ODIs). For example, Anil Kumble disappeared from the ratings lists for a while in 2001 because he hadn't played a Test for over a year, but he reappeared as soon as he played his next Test. If a player confirms his retirement he is also removed from the list.

There are a number of tasks that can be accomplished with Perl/Tk widgets, configurations, and bindings (a few that can't and a few that require specific tricks). When you call up the y(x) list, the list starts with the first y variable in which you have a function stored; if there are no functions in any of the y-variables, it will start with y1.
