We do not offer a terminal master’s degree. The Ph.D. track involves first obtaining a Master's degree. After completing coursework and other requirements, including a Qualifying Examination, students begin dissertation research that leads to the doctoral degree.

Both degrees require 30 semester credits. However, the Masters of Engineering degree consists primarily of coursework with an advanced practicum of 2-4 credits and the Masters of Science consists of a research project or research thesis which consists of 2-9 credits. The Masters of Engineering degree also provides more flexibility in coursework a student may wish to take outside the department.

Students who join us with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology are able to complete our program more quickly, but students with degrees in other areas are welcome to apply. Students who do not have a background in clinical psychology will need to complete Masters-level course-work (e.g., Psychopathology, Psychotherapy, Psychological Testing, Clinical Practicum) both as a prerequisite for our doctoral courses and in order to be license-eligible upon graduation.

The Art department offers, two studio degrees: the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). The BFA emphasizes preparation for a career as a practicing artist or filmmaker and is recommended for those students wishing to develop a more competitive body of work in a specific concentration area. Because of the emphasis on concentrated study, the BFA does not allow for a minor.

Yes, we offer an MSE degree. It is also possible to complete the program in one year (including a summer) if you already have a strong background. One advantage of our MSE program is it is relatively small, so unlike some of the more well-known masters programs, you will be in classes of 20-30 students, not 200-300!
