The minimum TOEFL score that the University of Maryland will accept is 575 on the computer test, 233 on the written test.

If you're taking the TOEFL CBT the minimum score is 250. If it is available in your country and you are taking the TOEFL IBT, then the minimum score is a total of 80 points, with a minimum of 23 on the Speaking section. Individual departments may require higher scores. The IBT minimums are subject to change as we gain more experience on what these scores actually mean in terms of proficiency.

The programs do not have a minimum standard for GRE scores but consider them an important component in our evaluation of applicants. A grade point average of at least 3.0 is generally required. Although the Graduate Admissions Office does require official GRE and TOEFL score reports, they are willing to accept certified or notarized copies of these reports when foreign exchange creates a financial burden on the applicant.

We do not accept TOEFL scores that are over two years old, and we do not accept photocopies of TOEFL score reports.

We have a close relationship with the Lucas Graduate School of Business and many of our students have been admitted to its graduate programs. However, there is no way to avoid the TOEFL and GMAT score requirements.

GRE scores are valid for approximately five years from the date taken. TOEFL scores submitted to Stanford must be from a test taken within the last 18 months. No scores are valid beyond the date ETS will send or resend them to schools.

The last acceptable deadline to take the GRE or TOEFL is in December. It is strongly recommended that you take the test prior to the application deadline. The January test dates are typically too late.
