We have recently the ability for the system to recognise rotation information (an EXIF tag for those that know what that is) provided in the image that is uploaded. This information is usually put there by more modern cameras that have an orientation sensor in them. Most newer editing applications (eg Photoshop) know how to interpret this information and in turn will automatically rotate an image when it is loaded into the application.

This means that there may be some degradation in image quality, but you will receive the images much faster than normal.
